Job Summary:As a Substation Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and implementation of electrical substations. You will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of projects from conceptualization to completion, adhering to industry standards, safety regulations, and project requirements. Your expertise in substation design, technical proficiency, and attention to detail will contribute to the seamless operation of critical infrastructure.Responsibilities:Design and Engineering: Lead the design and engineering efforts for electrical substations, including layout, schematics, equipment selection, and specifications.Project Management: Manage substation design projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards.Technical Analysis: Conduct technical analyses, feasibility studies, and risk assessments to identify optimal solutions and mitigate potential challenges.Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams, including project managers, engineers, and technicians, to coordinate project activities and ensure alignment with project objectives.Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and industry best practices throughout the design and implementation phases.Vendor Management: Interface with vendors and suppliers to evaluate products, procure materials, and ensure the timely delivery of equipment/components.Quality Assurance: Perform quality assurance checks, inspections, and tests to verify the integrity and functionality of substation designs and installations.Documentation: Prepare comprehensive design documentation, reports, drawings, and technical specifications for internal and external stakeholdersTraining and Support: Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to junior engineers and team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.Safety: Prioritize safety in all aspects of substation design and operation, identifying and addressing potential hazards to minimize risks to personnel and assets.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.3-5 years of experience in substation design, engineering, and project management.Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) and simulation tools (e.g., ETAP, PSCAD).Strong knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, transformers, switchgear, and protective relaying.Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., IEEE, NEC, NESC).Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
