Operates, maintains and repairs electrical equipment, electrical systems, and voice and data cabling systems a
necessary for the Refinery's operation. Major Accountabilities:
- Repairs, maintains, and installs electrical systems and equipment following all safety procedures, electrical codes, manuals, schematic drawings, diagrams, and blueprints.
- Demonstrates knowledge of basic grounding and shielding, electricity, and electrical wiring and raceway systems.
- Uses basic electrical meters and equipment to test equipment.
- Maintains and repairs various types of electrical components.
- Performs work activities in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
- Performs problem diagnostics, installation, alterations, and preventative maintenance on various types of electrical equipment as required.
- Makes decisions regarding loading of circuits, distribution panels and transformers.
- Specifies type and quantity of materials needed for installations and alterations.
- Makes decisions regarding the safety of electrical equipment and installations. Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical equipment.
- Examines electrical equipment to diagnose trouble.
- Disassembles equipment. Adjusts, repairs, or replaces parts as necessary.
- Ensures routine preventative maintenance is performed according to established schedules.
- Performs all work in accordance with established building codes and safety procedures.
- Performs all other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Minimum of two years electrical experience as an Electrician or a technical degree in an electrical field is required.
- Minimum two years experience installing, repairing and maintaining assorted types of electrical systems required.
- New projects and start-up experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero St. Charles Refinery, required.
