LEAD ELECTRICIAN (LE)

General Purpose

As a member of our team, you will lead the work of journeyman electricians and apprentice helpers, and participate in the repair, maintenance, inspection, and installation of systems and journeyman level projects.

You will lead these projects in a manner that exceeds our customers' expectations and ensures that our work adheres to all company safety policies and OSHA mandated requirements. This position reports to the Project Manager of Swanson Electrical, and is based in our Belmont, MI office.

The Lead Electrician (LE):
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the repair, maintenance, inspection, and installation of systems and journeyman level projects.
  • Assigns and inspects the work of up to 6 journeyman electricians and apprentices; initiates corrective actions to secure satisfactory standards and timely project completion.
  • Able / willing to teach electrical skills to apprentices.
  • Plans and develops onsite work schedules, equipment usage schedules, and procedures for equipment maintenance.
  • Maintains time, payroll, and material records, and submits reports.
  • Determines material and labor estimates.
  • Assists in performance evaluation process.
  • Participates in maintenance, repair, and installation duties standard with master electricians in the trades.
Skills and Experience:
  • Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the trade.
  • Knowledge of all applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Skill in estimating time and material requirements for work projects.
  • Skill in leading the work activities of self and others.
  • Skill in both verbal and written communication.
  • Journeyman experience - minimum of 4 years.
  • Willingness to periodically work out-of-state is preferred.
  • Experience as a jobsite lead for jobs up to a $500,000 electrical contract.
  • Commercial & industrial experience.
  • Experience with layout of electrical systems onsite.
  • Experience with material ordering and change order paperwork.
  • Experience with layout work for up to 6 support electricians.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Technical or college coursework not required, but preferred
