Summary:
Receives direction from the Director of Facilities (DF) for day-to-day electrical needs and other maintenance/facility activities. The Electrician will aid the DF in maintaining existing electrical systems, making alterations to the electrical system, and installing new electrical devices and circuitry. The Electrician will maintain a continual pursuit of academic education in the electrical field, either by an approved apprenticeship program or traditional accredited institution program focusing on electricity and electronics. The Electrician will have a focus on electrical work but be able to apt to perform any and all maintenance related activities. The Electrician will follow a schedule set by the DF, which could include a rotating schedule of weekends and evenings.
They must possess the ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining pleasant, flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Good verbal communication skills, strong decision-making ability and attention to detail are equally important, and they must work independently with little or no supervision.

Responsibilities

- Prioritize personal integrity in all interactions and assignments
- Responsible for all electrical related systems at the Headquarters building. The Electrician will assist to maintain and repair all lighting systems, electrical systems, emergency generators and related systems, material handling/dock equipment, back-up systems and batteries related to back up systems.
- Assist with daily maintenance of equipment, troubleshoot and provide preventative maintenance and maintain efficiency and safety of all equipment.
- Accomplish tasks relating to the ongoing operations and preventative maintenance schedule, including Emergency Back-up generators and UPS Battery Back-up Systems. Ensure Electrical Switch Gear and associated components are inspected and exercised on a scheduled basis.
- Perform repairs, replacements, preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment and facility assets.
- Identify and assess key areas for possible improvement, involving facility maintenance.
- Routinely inspect and maintain the building and ground electrical systems.
- Participate in all relevant training and staff meetings.
- Assist in housekeeping efforts as needed.
- Purse continuing education courses for electrical license.
- And all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS

- Good communication and time management skills.
- Physical exertion that will require standing and walking all day, repeated bending and lifting, ability to lift up to 40+ lbs.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies and MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Ability to climb ladders, work in ceilings/tunnels, walk, crawl and work in cramped quarters, operate lift tools, small equipment and construction related pieces of equipment, man lifts, and snow removal equipment.
- Reliable transportation, current driver's license with good driving record.
- Have basic skills with computers, preferred experience with building management systems.
- Availability to work any combination of days and shifts, including Saturdays and Sundays, being able to be called in after hours with an emergency.
- Three or more years' experience in commercial electrical field
