High school diploma and demonstrated experience as a plumber/steamfitter or equivalent combination of training, education, licensure, or experience.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Plumbing Foreman, the Lead Plumbing Technician performs plumbing-related mechanical work, including installations, alterations, repairs and general maintenance using applicable skills and knowledge. This position helps to maintain primary and secondary systems and related equipment, as well as supports other trades within the department. Supervises contractor labor.
Required Qualifications
Must be licensed by DPOR as a plumber. Demonstrated experience with installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of residential, commercial, and industrial plumbing and mechanical systems working independently of supervision. Professional working knowledge and demonstrated experience in the use of tools and equipment used pertaining to the plumbing trade. Ability to respond to campus emergencies within 30 minutes. A valid driver's license is required.
Additional Considerations
DPOR licensure in other mechanical fields. DPOR master's license in plumbing preferred. Experience with technology in the submission of requisitions and timecards. Certifications in welding, OSHA (for example, trench safety, scaffolding, operating aerial lifts, asbestos, and HAZWOPER), DPOR Backflow Prevention Device Worker, and others related to trade. Commercial experience with steam pressurized delivery systems, converters, plate and frame heat exchangers, closed-loop systems, water chemistry, install RPZ's, domestic water distribution, suppression systems, pumps, valves, cooling towers, and a functional knowledge of electrical and HVAC systems. Experience reading and interpreting written instructions, blueprints, and schematic drawings.
Hiring Range
Minimum Salary: $50,190, negotiable based on experience. Pay Band 3b
