We currently seek to fill the position of Senior Automation Controls Engineerto design automation solutions for projects while adhering to company procedures, standards, and committing to clients needs. The Automation Controls Engineer designs and leads industrial projects in a safe, efficient, and effective manner, all while advancing KBCs mission of being a forward-thinking, collaborative, and ethical business.
Responsibilities:- Defines, designs, develops, and commissions control systems for industrial projects.
- Designs the control systems technical specifications (control narratives, functional descriptions, selection of instrumentation), control system architecture drawings, PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI configuration (Rockwell Software, Siemens, Ignition, PanelView), Motor Control Center, Servo drive, and VFD configuration (PowerFlex 755).
- Prepares the technical portion of the detailed control engineering scope, inspection, and test plans, construction scope of work, and commissioning plans.
- Effectively communicates with project stakeholders to resolve technical issues across all phases of the project.
- Leads commissioning & start-up activities during control system implementation.
- Participates in support of the cross-functional team activities.
- Promotes a culture of technical excellence in project delivery, cost performance, and the development of strong client relationships.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to quality and engineering design processes.
- Understands project management tools for managing budget, schedule, and scope of various size projects.
- Ability to work with field service engineers to assist in field troubleshooting and repair.
- Proficient in A/B and Siemens programming PLC, including device communications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience with machine health monitoring on industrial gearboxes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with control networks/buses.
- Experience with Ethernet and IP networks.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other related software.

This position requires a bachelors degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Software Engineering preferred) and a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in progressive industrial automation.
Experience in the pulp & paper industry controls is preferred.
Approximately 10-30% travel.
