Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineer will provide technical expertise for production tools both internally and at contract manufacturers, to ensure production schedules, quality standards, and cost targets are met.

Responsibilities:
  • Function as lead MFE on a particular product line. Work with final test operations to support troubleshooting of mechanical/electrical, and control related issues. Escalate issues as needed via fishbone, 5 why analysis or other means.
  • Experience transitioning new products into volume production.
  • Works with key stakeholders to evaluate and identify design issues or areas of risk during design or development . Prevent issues from reaching manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of design and quality tools to evaluate manufacturability (DFM), serviceability to determine if design meeting manufacturing requirements
  • Perform design for manufacturing reviews and participate in design failure modes and effects analysis (DFMEA).
  • Experience implementing process improvement methodologies, such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Review Veeco drawings to assure they accurately represent the part(s) and include all dimensions, tolerancing/GDT, and required callouts required to accurately produce the part
  • Review and respond to technical queries from suppliers.
  • Participate in product life cycle projects for implementation of new products into production at contract manufacturer site from manufacturing engineering role.
  • Perform disposition and rework notifications for non-conforming material.
  • Recommend and implement measures to reduce cost, improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggest and implement changes in the manufacturing environment, facilities, and equipment to increase the efficiency of operations (yield improvements).
  • Execute engineering change masters (ECMs) accurately, timely, and cost-effectively in SAP.
  • Support large electromechanical tool ETO manufacturing.
  • Provide regular status reports for activities relating to contract manufacturers and supplier issues as well as objective reporting.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, manufacturing, industrial) with at least 2 years of relevant experience. A master's degree is a plus. Experience in equipment/product manufacturing is preferred. Experience with process control methodologies required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong structured problem-solving experience & application necessary.
  • Semiconductor machine tool manufacturing experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of Signal Process Methodologies (transfer functions, cross-correlation) is a plus.
  • Experience with systems designs input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software/controls compatibility is preferred.
  • A good understanding of system controls architecture is a plus.
  • Knowledge of metrology and measurement systems to assure parts meet. requirements. Knowledge and experience with Vacuum (UHV) and clean room experience highly desirable.
  • Experience with SPC and process control methodologies required.
  • Able to effectively communicate, written and orally with employees, Engineering team and technical professionals/consultants.
  • Quality training and experience in the following areas highly desirable - Lean, Kaizen, ISO-9000, Six-Sigma is a plus.
  • Must be willing to travel on occasion.
  • Practical mindset with strong ability to read and interpret highly technical documents (e.g., schematics, mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, bills of material, routings, operating, maintenance, and job safety instructions/procedures) provided in verbal, written or pictorial form.
  • Experience with SAP and SolidWorks. Composer/Tol Analyst/Design. Check/interference analysis. Modeling is a plus.

The expected salary range for this position is $71,948.00-$91,134.45, plus bonus opportunity. When determining your pay, we will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
