Job Description
Seeking a Avionic Engineer who will be responsible for implementing complex projects and programs in Avionics and establishing preventative maintenance procedures and reliability improvements in the interest of safety, cost reduction, and fleet maintenance improvements. In addition, the Avionics Engineer will be expected to:

  • Develop, generate, prototype, and implement Avionics projects and tasks as required. Candidate will develop the necessary engineering to comply with airworthiness directives, changes to Federal Aviation Regulations, and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) service bulletins.
  • Coordinate with the responsible groups to ensure all required work instructions, manuals, drawings and materials are in place to accomplish projects.
  • Investigate aircraft reliability and maintenance problems associated with the company's fleet.
  • Identify solutions and implement corrective actions to improve avionics reliability.
  • Provide engineering assistance consisting of technical data, processes, and procedures necessary to maintain continued airworthiness of the aircraft.
  • Assist when required in troubleshooting aircraft Avionics and work with the Original Equipment Manufacturer for solutions to chronic aircraft problems.
  • Mutually establish and prioritize projects, objectives and tasks with Manager.
  • Periodically review and update project tasks, schedule and changes requests, as required in the Engineering Department's Project & Change Management System.
  • Establish preventative maintenance procedures and reliability improvements in the interest of safety, cost reduction and fleet maintenance improvements.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with a focus in aerospace or electrical engineering, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations and oversight functions (for both aircraft operating airworthiness certificates).
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of aircraft avionics/systems (Boeing 737 preferred).
  • Strong analytical and complex problem-solving ability, particularly in identifying fleet issues and trends.
  • Ability to meet assigned project deadlines with self-directed decision-making confidence.
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal (both informal working teams and formal executive presentations), and in clear, concisely written documents
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with ability to multi-task and work independently with self-directed decision-making confidence and limited guidance in a fast-paced environment. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

3+ years of experience in fleet engineering (airline, shop, OEM) supporting operation on in-service aircraft, complex project management experience, knowledge of TRAX or any other Airline Maintenance Software system and knowledge of Aircraft Internet Connectivity and Entertainment systems is preferred, but not required
