Several hundred employees support our operations in accounting and finance, human resources, health and safety, information technology, planning, engineering, and more. Our virtual internship program allows interns to work virtually as well as come together in person when needed at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix and/or one of our site locations. Interns can work remotely from most states in the U.S., with the exception of California, Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma and South Carolina. Additional states may be excluded from virtual work based on business factors.
Description
Under general supervision, provides technical support and guidance for projects and programs for the Sustainability Department in the areas of Responsible Sourcing, Assurance, Climate Change and Human Rights.
Minimum Requirements:
The estimated pay range for this role is currently $25.75-$32.25/hour. Individual pay rates will be based on level of education and relevant experience.

Description
Under general supervision, provides technical support and guidance for projects and programs for the Sustainability Department in the areas of Responsible Sourcing, Assurance, Climate Change and Human Rights.
- Assists in conducting and recording due diligence on environmental and human rights risks in the supply chain
- Assists in developing and maintaining datasets to record actions for various purposes
- Assists in general activities related to assurance/audit for ICMM/Copper Mark site certifications
- Assists in reviewing and maintaining collaboration platforms for the Sustainability Team
- Conducts human rights or climate change related research to enable team in decision-making, including benchmarking against competitors, peers or others in the value chain
- Perform other duties as required
Minimum Requirements:
- Full-time student currently enrolled at an accredited four-year university majoring in an appropriate Environmental Science or Sustainability discipline or related field OR
- Recent college graduate having graduated within 12 months prior to internship start date with a degree in Environmental Science or related field
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Possesses strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
- Highly accurate and detail oriented
- Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrates initiative, organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure
- Demonstrates ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment
- Must be able to demonstrate our core values of honesty, fairness, respect, trust, and integrity
- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
- Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
- Must be able to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet time-sensitive deadlines
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
- Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre- employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by applicable state laws
