The Salt Lake City, Utah facility is actively seeking a capable and motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join their Engineering Team. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting our manufacturing processes through research, design, and development. Your technical expertise will contribute to process improvement, ensuring safety, reliability, efficiency, and product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Development and Implementation of New Equipment and Processes:

  • Conduct cost and payback analysis for potential projects
  • Lead and assist in designing new manufacturing processes, machinery, and operations
  • Collaborate to preclude manufacturing obstacles in new product development
  • Modify existing equipment to accommodate new products or specifications
  • Identify and implement efficient and cost-effective processes
  • Design tooling to support various processes
  • Prepare capital expenditure requests for production equipment
  • Collaborate with Maintenance to enhance equipment performance
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, minimizing downtime
  • Suggest improvements for your areas of responsibility
  • Participate in Kaizen events as assigned
Maintenance of Process Records and Documentation:
  • Develop detailed process routings, including support specifications, drawings, tooling, and labor standards
  • Maintain process records and machine documentation
  • Create SolidWorks drawings for existing and new equipment
  • Handle Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) as assigned
  • Complete New Equipment and Process checklists
Support and Maintenance of Equipment and Processes:
  • Provide technical support for maintenance operations
  • Assist and perform repairs when engineering support is required
  • Identify safety hazards and develop action plans for rectification
Implementation and Maintenance of Computer Hardware and Software:
  • Troubleshoot machines or process failures using PLC interfaces
  • Provide support for existing PLC and computer software used in inspection or statistical sampling
  • Develop and execute control interfaces and automation for equipment
Research and Testing:
  • Conduct testing and analysis to support new manufacturing methods
  • Provide technical support to internal departments
  • Collaborate with vendors and external customers to ensure design and functional expectations are met
Personnel Management and Training Assistance:
  • Assist in training operators for new machines and processes
  • Provide leadership support for projects and areas of responsibility
  • Collaborate with department leads on improvement initiatives and machine upgrades
  • Manage technical and maintenance personnel assigned to major projects
  • Communicate and provide reports to facilitate operations
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience in designing and constructing manufacturing equipment
  • 1-3 years of programming experience (PLCs, C++, or Visual Basic)
  • Familiarity with general manufacturing processes associated with aluminum and carbon
  • Proficiency in Solidworks 3D modeling
  • Hands-on experience with CNC and manual machining
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Project management skills
