The Electrical Harness Design Engineer is responsible for development of electrical wire harnesses (concept through product test) for terrestrial and off world robotic sampling systems. Specifically, the Harness Design Engineer will define, acquire, integrate, validate, and maintain electrical harnesses for aerospace robotic products. This role will report to the Avionics Manager.

Responsibilities:

    • Create and maintain electrical test equipment to ensure the quality of our harness assemblies.
    • Develop the Block Interconnect Diagrams (BID) and Wiring Interconnect Diagrams (WID).
    • Design electrical harnesses for power distribution, RF, communication, and high-speed data signals.
    • Select harness components, connectors, back shells, cable, and wire.
    • Create 3D routed harness data files.
    • Create harness detail and installation drawings.
    • Design and install harness support fixtures.
    • Support design configuration, development, and trade studies.
    • Develop harness routing requirements, interfaces, specifications, and process controls.
    • Plan and execute the assembly and testing of cables and harnesses.
    • Identify opportunities for improvements and operational cost and schedule savings.
Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree or higher in electrical engineering or related field.
    • 2+ years working in harness design, manufacturing, or testing.
    • Solid grasp of mechanical and electrical principles related to wire harness design.
    • Experience with the use of common lab equipment such as multimeters, continuity testers, Megaohmeters.
    • Experience in harness schematic capture.
    • Experience in IPC/NASA equivalent harness design practices.

$86,000 - $179,000 a year

We offer a flexible salary range for this job posting that will be customized based on the qualifications of the chosen candidate. Our compensation strategy takes into account various factors, including education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market alignment. The position is available at multiple levels, and the corresponding salary ranges are as follows:

Harness Design Engineer I: $86,000-121,000

Harness Design Engineer II: $103,000-144,000

Harness Design Engineer III: $128,000-179,000
