Job Description Salary Range: $21.39 - $34.44/Hour Purpose of Classification: The purpose of this classification is to perform electrical installation, maintenance, and repairs in County buildings and facilities. This classification is safety sensitive, subject to random drug testing in accordance with the County's Drug & Alcohol Policy Essential Functions: The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Receives high priority assignments related to installation, maintenance and repairs to building utility power, electrical systems, and related equipment; expedites emergency repairs in cases of lightning damage and loss of utility power; and installs repairs and replaces electrical conductors, protective overcurrent devices, motors, switches and disconnect switches, lighting systems, appliances and general equipment. Locates and repairs electrical malfunctions; utilizes standard methods as required by the National Electrical Code (NEC) and associated safety rules and regulations; identifies and repairs malfunctions to electrical systems and equipment; troubleshoots problems with incoming utility power, interior and exterior electrical service panels, and electrical transformers; performs appreciative testing; and utilizes protective equipment. Performs preventative maintenance, repairs and transfer tests on generators, automatic transfer switches, and Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) systems; performs weekly, monthly, bi-annual maintenance and transfer tests; performs annual load bank test and maintenance on back-up emergency generators; maintains records on scheduled maintenance and repairs; and inspects underground fuel tanks for leak detection and related problems. Performs maintenance, installation and repairs of electrical systems associated with lighting systems and equipment at parks and recreation facilities; operates aerial bucket truck to replace ball field pole lights, ballasts, and control wiring; removes damaged and underground cable and wiring for light poles and score boards; installs new conductors; and performs maintenance and repairs on building snack bars and offices. Installs, repairs, replaces and retrofits all types of lighting in parking lots and parking decks; identifies electrical problems with parking lot and deck lighting control systems to include timers, photocells, caution lights, flashers, and exit/emergency lights; replaces old lamps and ballasts; and retrofits and replaces light fixtures as necessary. Performs installation, maintenance and repair of interior and exterior lamps and light fixtures in County buildings; replaces burned out lamps and ballasts; retrofits light fixtures; and disposes of environmentally harmful materials associated with fluore Determines amount of materials needed to complete projects; provides cost projections as requested; gathers equipment, tools, parts, and supplies; monitors inventory levels; and orders new or replacement materials as required Minimum Qualifications : High school diploma or GED, with vocational training through an accredited electrician's apprenticeship program required; three years of experience as a journeyman electrician or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job. Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
