PLUMBER MAINTENANCE II - UNITED STATES ARMY, FORT MEADE
The core working hours are 7:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with a compensation of $37.04 per hour. A valid driver's license (driving records check is required). Pre-employment background checks and drug testing is required.
SUMMARY
The primary purpose of this position is to perform the full range of master plumbing duties such as installing, repairing, and modifying water supply, sewage disposal, gas distribution, oil lines, fire suppression, and similar utility systems and equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Installs, modifies, repairs, and maintains a variety of new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil, & gas distribution systems, water closets, backflow prevention devices/assemblies, fire sprinkler systems, and showers.
2. Plans and accomplishes work from initial layout to final assembly, which involves interpreting and applying building plans, specifications, blueprints, sketches, and other plumbing guides/codes, and using shop mathematics.
3. Performs preventive maintenance services and troubleshoots/tests various plumbing systems and equipment, including backflow prevention devices such as reduced pressure principle devices, double-check devices, atmospheric vacuum breakers, and other cross-connection devices.
4. Uses and maintains tools such as tapes, rules, plumb bobs, hand and power pipe threaders, cutters, pipe wrenches, angle drills, hacksaws and power saws, power sewer cleaning equipment, various gas detectors and meters, and lead pots.
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS
The plumber makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms, where the parts of systems worked on are in hard-to-reach places. The plumber must frequently stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The plumber often lifts, carries, and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 40 pounds unassisted and over 40 pounds with assistance. They may be required to wear safety equipment, such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other personal protective equipment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must hold a Master Plumber license.
Five to seven years of experience in the installation or contracting in a related field. Must be able to pass and maintain a government security background clearance. Must have a working knowledge of MAXIMO or other CMMS software.
