Essential Functions
Plans layout, installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, electrical panels, circuit breakers, apparatus and control equipment. Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provides access for future maintenance and avoids unsightly hazardous and unreliable wiring. Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels. Installs conduit and wiring devices such as receptacles, switches, light fixtures, and other electrical apparatus. Tests continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components using test instruments. Works on electrical circuits carrying 0-600 or more volts. Inspects and tests electrical panels used to control machinery, equipment and systems following blueprints and wiring schematics. Tests wiring circuits and controls to isolate causes of malfunctions using electrical instruments. Examines wiring for loose or faulty connections. Repairs electrical motors, controllers and starters. Replaces blown fuses, burned out coils, faulty circuit breakers, etc. Works with outside vendor to maintain elevators and perform periodic checks. Works special events and athletic events to ensure uninterrupted electrical, sound and PA service. May operate tow motors, lifts and bucket trucks.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid TN Driver's license. Minimum 2 years' experience in installation, maintenance, repairs, and operation of a wide array of common electrical system components.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified for low voltage installation. TN state electrical license. Familiar with elevator controls. Knowledge of fire alarm installation/troubleshooting. Working knowledge of telecommunication/IT installation and operation.
Work Hours
Typical hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Occasional overtime required.
