Job Summary
Execute as a lead member of the Site Survey Engineer Team focused on developing a strong team comprised of Site Survey Engineers. Emphasize new Astound MDU deployments by working with our Right of Entry Sales Teams and our deployment construction teams to assess the feasibility and functional needs to invest Astound service into Residential and Commercial MDUs to reduce sales cycle and construction times.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Promote a safe and encouraging environment by setting positives examples.
- Provide leadership and training to lower level team members.
- Key contributor to overall sustainability of existing and future microwave and/or millimeter links: monitors and identifies potential issues with any possible obstruction that could interfere with link/s.
- Conduct and support microwave and millimeter wave analyses, interference analysis, and frequency coordination.
- Provides technical consultation and solutions to other organizations.
- Conducts site visits and experimental investigations and analyzes microwave and/or millimeter problems, proposes solutions and alternatives, and provides recommendations.
- Write requirements documents, theories of operation, operations manuals, etc.
- Perform Site Surveys - Identify potential build pathways and provide solutions for deployment. Take internal/external photos. Take appropriate notes required to complete the site survey document
- Post site survey: Create preliminary build plans and budget, including construction requirements and bill of materials. Document the site survey with all required documents including photos and notes. Manage and drive the progress of each new building through the review process
- Building Design - Communicate the specific needs of each potential building to the parties involved to ensure proper information flow and successful completion of the project.
- Vendor Management - Engineering and Construction - Obtain BID's documents from vendors with assistance from immediate Manager or higher level PM.
- Project schedules and coordination - Property Management, Customers, Internal Team, and Vendors - Build schedules and coordinate efforts.
- Building inspection and PMI's - New and existing - Perform PMI's and correct potential issues.
- As-Built and Documentation - Create appropriate build history/documentation.
- Network equipment installation, inspection and troubleshooting: Microwave Radio installation - Primarily 60/80 ghz gigabit links. Routers and Switch's - Cisco ASR920, Cisco C2900/C3500, Juniper 1200. Cable Placement -Terminations and Splicing - DC Power Cable, Cat5/6e, Single Mode Optical Fiber. WiFi Equipment Access Points. Network Transport Gear - DWDM and CWDM.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work while standing 50% - 70% of the time.
- Ability to work with small components and wires to make cable connections.
- Ability to make cable connections in tight spaces by bending, reaching, twisting.
- Ability to work at heights - on towers and building rooftops
- Ability to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires.
- Vision ability: close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record as this position will require driving a company vehicle.
- Must have the ability to communicate by telephone, correspondence, and in person.
- Must possess a good command of the English language, including excellent enunciation and grammar.
- Must have basic mathematics techniques.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods.
- Must have ability to frequently use repetitive motions of the wrist, hands and/or fingers.
- Must be able to work in a standard office environment; no hazardous or disagreeable work conditions.
- Must have ability to operate standard office equipment, to include personal computer, telephone, copier, facsimile machine, and calculator.
- Must hold valid driver's license and maintain clean driving record.
Requirements/Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
- Intermediate to expert experience is required in the following areas: physical, data-link and network protocols and architectures; routers, firewalls and switches; system load balancing and redundant system architecture.
- OSHA & Safety competent
- Demonstrated understanding of physical network construction and installations.
- Understanding of fiber design and construction, both outside plant and inside plant.
- Understanding of millimeter-wave and microwave communications equipment; specifically point-to-point links.
- Able to set up and or design simple to complex network involving Cisco switches and routers.
- Demonstrates ability to diagnose and solve problems.
- Exhibits the ability to follow direction and possesses the ability to follow through.
- Must enjoy the challenge of technical concepts and communication those concepts at varying levels.
- Solution oriented - must be creative.
- Problem solver - solution presenter.
- Leadership and teaching ability.
- Work well under pressure and in a fast paced environment - adaptability.
- Risk analysis - able to identify risks and build assessments/probability statistics for a positive outcome.

The base salary range in CA for this position is $27.00-$35.19, plus opportunities for bonus, benefits and commission, if applicable. The base pay range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this job. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, and capabilities. It is specific to CA and may not be applicable to other locations.
