What we're looking for:
Nexamp's Utility Scale Division is seeking a seasoned developer to lead the development of utility scale solar projects in several select markets. You will have seven plus years of large generation project development experience. You will lead the origination and development of large utility scale solar and storage projects. You will understand how clean energy policy creates market opportunity. You will report to the VP, Utility-Scale Greenfield Development. We are open to candidates across our Chicago, Austin, and Boston offices. We will be supporting hybrid work. What you'll do:
Perform and manage development activities such as: site origination, site control negotiation, real estate and title curative, project permitting, utility interconnection, and tax agreement negotiation Close coordination with junior business development staff to develop and implement effective lead campaign strategies Development of long-term relationships with site owners, local authorities and other project stakeholders Effective communication with project stakeholders and community members to facilitate project permitting and other initiatives Fostering support from state, county and local governments, community groups, and abutters Management of external consultants as needed in conjunction with project permitting activities Crafting a compelling value proposition that reflects avoided cost, load profile, applicable tariffs, and layered revenue streams to promote the projects to potential off-takers in close coordination with the PPA origination team Active management of development schedule and budget to ensure timely and cost-effective projects Support of internal finance, engineering, and construction teams to facilitate successful project financing and construction Development of presentations, proposals, and other materials as needed to support project development efforts Occasional travel is required; some evening and weekend work required What you'll bring:
The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, hands-on, results-oriented, and a team player. Key qualifications as follows: 7+ years of energy industry experience in a development role Experience developing utility-scale generation projects in multiple ISOs where Nexamp is active (ERCOT, MISO, PJM, NYISO, SPP) Integration of PV and energy storage systems preferred Commercial real estate prospecting and business model understanding Effective team leader and collaborator Commitment to Nexamp's mission and have a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today. Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization. Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization. We value accountability and an ownership mentality. Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions. Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry. Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and then apply that knowledge effectively to inform business decisions.
