Vice President, Enterprise Strategy

Job Summary: The Vice President, Enterprise Strategy, will play a critical role in KP's overall enterprise strategy and growth and diversification agenda and will report to the SVP, Enterprise Strategy. She/he will support the marketplace and enterprise efforts working with members of the national leadership team and market leadership teams. The Vice President, Enterprise Strategy develops growth, diversification, and performance improvement strategies for the KP enterprise. The VP will be a key leader within Enterprise Strategy and Business Development (ESBD), and will partner across the function to lead the development of new strategies (including planning, building, and implementing organic and inorganic strategic initiatives) and also maturing the ESBD organization. The scope of these strategies will include long-term objectives, mission and vision for KP Enterprise. She/he may lead projects independently with up to several billion dollars in revenue impact. The Vice President, Enterprise Strategy will be a key member of the leadership team within Enterprise Strategy and Business Development (ESBD), partnering across the team to develop and manage enterprise strategic growth. Essential Responsibilities: Strategy Development: Develop strategies in support of the whole of the KP enterprise and specific organizations within the enterprise. Identify the business problem to be solved, identify potential options to address the business problem, evaluate and prioritize strategic options, and arrive at a recommendation as to the path forward. Partner with executives across the enterprise to ensure strategies adequately reflect the needs of the organization(s) and can be successfully operationalized. Collaborate with stakeholders and influencers to refine strategies and support successful implementation and execution. Build and Refine the Strategy Development Process: Establish and refine methodologies for strategy development, including identifying the business problem, evaluating potential strategies, prioritizing moves, and developing strategy roadmaps. Partner with Enterprise Transformation, Business Development, and operational teams on documenting and disseminating best practices of strategy translation into execution. Ensure that these methodologies are applied consistently and effectively across the organization. Strategic Leadership in Transactions: Lead the development of the strategic criteria for transactions, and support identifying, prioritizing, evaluating, selecting, negotiating, and executing transactions based on strategic criteria. Ensure that each transaction aligns with the organization’s long-term goals and objectives. Mergers & Acquisitions Leadership: Lead the identification of merger and acquisition opportunities and assess strategic alternatives. Working with the Business Development team, support negotiations of transactions with senior leaders of target organizations. Support development of strategic business cases in collaboration with KP and external advisors such as banking and consulting firms. Business Intelligence & Integration:

Deliver actionable business intelligence ensuring that strategic decisions are well-informed and effectively executed. Collaborate across all organization and market teams to maintain a robust, comprehensive, and structured business intelligence database. Use this resource to identify and evaluate new business opportunities. Analyze competitive positioning and market dynamics to inform strategic decisions

Cultivation of New Business Relationships: Identify and cultivate new business relationships that support the organization’s growth objectives. Explore opportunities for acquisitions, partnerships, joint ventures, and other strategic relationships. Business Case Development: Build compelling business cases and create executive and board presentations to support strategic opportunities. Ensure that each opportunity is clearly articulated and well-supported by data and strategic rationale. Stakeholder Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including leaders from health plans, finance, IT, Regional, Permanente, Risant, KPMF, and other national functions. Ensure alignment and support across all levels of the organization. External Networking: Develop and sustain a network of external peers, delivery system leaders, consultants, bankers, and other marketplace experts to stay informed about industry trends and opportunities. Executive & Board Communication/Approval: When applicable for strategy, develop and deliver a plan to gain support and approval from executive leadership and, when applicable, the KP Board of Directors. Standard Work Development: Establish and refine methodologies for ideation, development prioritization, and execution of strategic initiatives. Ensure that these methodologies are applied consistently and effectively across the organization. Engagement of Internal & External Parties: Ensure the appropriate engagement of internal and external parties in all activities. This includes communications, legal, compliance, finance, and other functions critical to the successful strategy development. Talent development:

Mentor and develop team members to build a strong strategic capability within the organization Identify talent needs and support recruitment efforts to strengthen the strategy team Manage resource capacity and allocation to ensure appropriate progress Supervise, coach, and develop key members of the team fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring the team is equipped to meet the organization’s strategic goals.

Basic Qualifications: Experience Minimum twelve (12) years of relevant experience Education

Bachelor’s degree required License, Certification, Registration

Demonstrated success in building and executing a wide range of enterprise strategies. Proven ability to build and develop high-performing teams. Demonstrated experience in managing complex organizational initiatives, with ability to lead and coordinate projects/initiatives with multiple internal and external constituents at national, regional, and local levels. Ability to navigate and work through influence to achieve high impact outcomes; demonstrated political savvy. In a highly complex system environment, she/he will be a systems thinker who is focused on advancing the entire organization. She/he will be a collaborative team player who looks for opportunities to align diverse constituents and breakdown silos. She/he will build partnerships through systemic influence by: Facilitating discussions to enable people to collaborate with each other independently; promoting collaboration across the entire KP organizational structure. Identifying and meeting with key players and stakeholders to help them shape a consensus collectively and engaging in a dialogue to reach a final conclusion together, compromising as necessary for results. Developing explicit understanding of which relationships are most important to the organization and its stakeholders and building a network prioritizing these relationships. Strategic and analytical thinking, strong project management and problem-solving skills, sound judgement and a willingness to resolve issues and problems in a timely manner Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to develop rapport and credibility across the organization, promote ideas and proposals persuasively, and secure buy-in from key stakeholders Preferred Qualifications:

At least five (5) years of experience in healthcare preferred Experience within a matrixed organization is preferred Success in supporting M&A transactions, strategic investments, and/or partnerships within healthcare delivery preferred.
