JOB SUMMARY
The
Cyber Security Architect
plays a critical role in securing and enhancing National Gypsum Company's (NGC) digital estate, including data, services, devices, and networks. Under the direction of IT Leadership, this position designs, implements, and manages cybersecurity solutions, with a particular focus on Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) technologies. The role requires expertise in security architecture and risk assessment to protect NGC from cybersecurity threats while aligning with business objectives.
The Cyber Security Architect will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deploy and maintain best-in-class security solutions, ensuring NGC meets current and future security standards. The position also oversees security awareness training, supports cloud and on-premises infrastructure, and provides leadership on mitigating vulnerabilities and enhancing network security. This role is currently a hybrid of weekly in office and remote.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Security Architecture & Operations
Define, implement, and maintain cost-effective security solutions, including SASE technologies, to protect NGC's digital estate. Collaborate with IT teams to deploy security tools (e.g., firewalls, cloud services, endpoint protection, and SASE solutions) aligned with industry best practices. Engage with security partners to deliver and monitor NGC security solutions. Regularly evaluate security solutions to ensure compliance with NGC standards and regulatory requirements. Optimize NGC deployments of key partner security platforms and tools: Microsoft, Palo Alto and CrowdStrike currently top 3 - Review and assess potential new partners as needed. Lead or review network security architecture changes, new site deployments, and expansion projects to ensure security requirements are met. Work closely with project teams to make all of NGC's digital estate secure by design and secure when deployed. Secure communications, data exchanges, and networked systems with business partners, ensuring robust supplier relationship security. Domestic travel less than 5% Hybrid work eligible. Secure Access Service Edge (SASE)
Design and implement SASE frameworks to modernize and streamline network security and secure connectivity for cloud and on-premises environments. Work closely with vendors (e.g., Palo Alto, Zscaler, Netscope) to evaluate, deploy, and optimize SASE technologies to meet evolving security needs. Develop and enforce policies for secure, seamless access across hybrid and remote work environments. Risk Management
Conduct ongoing risk assessments of NGC's digital assets, infrastructure and partners. Develop mitigation strategies for identified vulnerabilities and prioritize remediation efforts in collaboration with IT Leadership. Proactively monitor for threats and implement measures to prevent unauthorized access, ransomware/malware events or data breaches. QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
Minimum 10 years of experience in IS security functions, including architecture, communications, or operations. Proven experience deploying SASE technologies or equivalent network security solutions. Strong vendor management skills and ability to collaborate with both technical and business stakeholders. Education and Certifications
Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required. Security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, CISM) highly preferred. Vendor-specific certifications from Palo Alto, Zscaler, Cisco, CrowdStrike or Microsoft (e.g., Azure certifications) are a strong plus. Technical Expertise
Deep understanding of Microsoft technologies (Azure, M365 Enterprise Services) a plus. Experience with SASE frameworks, including design, deployment, and management. Proficient in Microsoft Active Directory, Entra ID, CrowdStrike tools and endpoint security solutions. (Windows 11 client security a plus). Personal Strengths
