Job Summary:
This role participates in configuration and troubleshooting of Voice and Data connected endpoints all while carrying out daily incident management for staff, projects, and break fix requests. The Network Technician provides operational support for the following: IDF closets, routers, switches, power equipment, analog / IP phones, LAN / WAN, and ISP provided services.
Cisco CLI experience is necessary for this position. Ie: the ability to access switches/routers, make configuration changes, troubleshoot, activating and describing ports etc. Additional experiencesupporting Cisco Call Manager and working with IP based phones is also strongly desired.
Additional responsibilities include traveling to nearby offsite locations, assisting in project deployments, maintaining inventory, and performing maintenance requests. This position requires great listening, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Technical Requirements:
- Two or more years experience working with network infrastructure: routing & switching.
- Helpful experience: Cisco Call Manager, Cisco CLI, Microsoft suites and Service Now
- Desirable credentials: Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST), CompTIA Network+
Job Standards:
- Participates in On-Call rotation as required.
- Troubleshoots and resolves network related problems reported by end-users, internal Help Desk and offsite NOC.
- Provisions switch ports, installs patch cables and maintains cable management standards.
- Has a basic knowledge of power and electrical systems as it relates to UPSs, PDUs, network device rack installation and low voltage cable ie: Ethernet / Fiber optic including related transceivers/SFPs.
- Shows attention to detail, accuracy in work, time management and organization.
- Ability to work independently also on a team to meet all day-to-day functions and deadlines.
- It is desirable that candidates for this position possess a working knowledge in the areas described.
