Job Summary: The Campus Logistics Manager is accountable for all physical distribution operations and costs in the El Paso market, both at the plant and at the overflow warehouse facility, excluding only outbound transportation planning and performance from the overflow warehouse (managed by corporate transportation) and the planning and performance of collect' inbound shipments from certain suppliers (again, managed by corporate transportation).The details of this work include inbound all inventory move transactions in Infor M3, logistics planning at the plant, plant drop lot management, plant receiving operations, plant inventory control including raw materials, packing materials and pallets, line delivery and return operations in support of production, line takeaway from the production lines, plant dock and outbound warehouse operations, shuttle performance to/from the overflow warehouse and oversight/accountability of all warehouse activity and inventory record accuracy performance at the overflow warehouse.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop the annual warehouse budget for the plant and overflow warehouse location. Track performance to budget regularly through the year. Understand how cost and activity correlate to deliver expected performance thru the lens of both cost/pallet and cost as a % of sales
  • Manage the plant warehouse team and their performance of the following:
  • Scheduling and receipt of inbound materials to the plant, physically and in M3
  • Receiving dock transactions, both physically and in M3
  • Parcel receipts and shipments
  • Line delivery and line return activities at the plant, both physically and in M3
  • Finished goods line takeaway activities at the plant, both physically and in M3
  • Shuttle movements to/from the overflow warehouse in coordination with the 3rd party operator, both physically and in M3
  • Manage plant drop lot operations
  • Establish 5S expectations for the warehouse area and ensure they are being followed. As the plant dock is small and the product flow significant, maintaining order and flow is paramount.
  • Ensure all CHEP transactions are done correctly and that CHEP weekly/monthly inventory reconciliation matches expectations at the plant and overflow warehouse. Specific transactions that must be done include confirming/auditing receipt of pallets from CHEP to the plant, moving pallets with finished goods from the plant to the overflow warehouse, ensuring that overflow warehouse management and personnel are properly confirming inbound receipts from the plant, from CHEP, from other company locations and from suppliers and ensuring that outbound CO and DO pallet movements are being done properly.
  • Partner with leadership in vendor selection and negotiations
  • Perform inventory control audits and oversee inventory control process for the plant and overflow warehouse. Ensure inventory record accuracy results match expectations and that loss trends are stable or improving. Where unexpected variances are encountered investigate and identify corrective actions to avoid recurrence.
  • Work with customer service, production, and distribution to ensure that planning, communication, and execution of all sales orders are completed on time on the warehouse dock
  • Coordinate the fall bake display build plan and cost with the 3rd party warehouse operator
  • Develop and maintain criteria, instructions, training program and subsequent manuals, for all logistics and warehousing teams in El Paso Campus
  • Partner with leadership to establish process to capture and report performance metrics and key performance indicators. Identify continuous improvement opportunities and deliver on them.
  • Streamline transportation procedures to provide an efficient, service oriented, and value-added supply chain
  • Drive technology change from our ERP system to final delivery point
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or Materials Management required
  • 5-7 years' experience in logistics/warehouse operations in a manufacturing environment required
  • Experience working with good manufacturing principles (GMPs) and hazard analysis critical control points (HACCPs)
  • Fluency in English and Spanish preferred
  • Experience in food manufacturing preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite in addition to knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends when needed

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to use a keyboard and telephone. Frequent sitting, talking, hearing, and occasional standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting 50lbs, ability to adjust vision for close vision work. Occasional exposure to airborne dust, high humidity and extreme heat are possible in the plant.
