ATTENTION ALL ALASKA RESIDENTS!

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Program Management and Administration is looking for an Accounting Technician 3 to help us Keep Alaska Moving!

What you will be doing:
This position is one of three primary contacts for all Reimbursable Service Agreements (RSA) processed through the Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF).

DOT&PF processes approximately 350 RSAs annually, this includes both Capital and Operating RSAs. This position shares responsibility for the timely processing of RSA request packets, RSA structures set-up for both Capital and Operating funding, processing of billings, auditing accounting data to ensure all revenue is collected and posted prior to closeout, and closeout of RSAs. In addition, this position is responsible for any RSA related adjusting journal entries, such as CH8 (Interface Charge Transaction) and JVC (Cost Accounting Journal Voucher), etc.

The working environment you can expect:
Our office in Juneau is located at 3132 Channel Drive, a few minutes' walk to the DIPAC Ladd Macaulay Salmon Hatchery, a central location with plenty of parking and a view of the channel. After training and with supervisor approval, this position may be eligible for in-state teleworking options.

Who we are looking for:
  • Principles of Accounting: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, standards, and practices (for example, double entry accounting, accrual accounting), including the full accounting cycle and the preparation of work sheets, financial statements, ledgers, and journals.
  • Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
  • Accountability: Holds self and others accountable for measurable high-quality, timely, and cost-effective results. Determines objectives, sets priorities, and delegates work. Accepts responsibility for own actions and decisions. Complies with established control systems and rules.
  • Financial Systems: Knowledge of the standards, architecture, and specifications of automated financial systems, including source documents, system flows, system interfaces, and related internal controls.
  • Customer Service: Anticipates and meets the needs of both internal and external customers. Delivers high-quality products and services, is committed to continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of technical level accounting or bookkeeping experience, of which at least one year was at the full-proficiency level.

Substitutions:
Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for up to one year of the required experience at the non-full-proficiency level (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 9 semester/12 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.
An associate's degree in Accounting or Business Administration from an accredited college will substitute for the required two years of experience if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours at or above the 200 level in Accounting.
