The Women’s Imaging Aide is responsible for providing care to patients presenting for breast imaging procedures. Participates in data collection, planning and implementation of patient care.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs necessary functions to ensure patient comfort and satisfaction with service
Communicates changes in patients’ conditions and onsite care team.
Restocks department supplies as needed.
Performs equipment checks and unit specific maintenance duties as appropriate to department.
Assists in orienting and educating new staff.
Performs clinical procedures within scope of practice.
Extracts data from the medical record and records as directed.
Transcribes orders, and schedules tests/ procedures.
Assures communication of patient arrival to the appropriate department. Keeps a watchful eye on the waiting room to ensure that all patients are seen for service within 15 minutes of their arrival.
Answers the telephone within 3 rings, assists or directs the caller to the appropriate person or department, and accurately records messages.
As needed, contact other facilities for outside films and reports.
Process requests for release of information in accordance with the policies set forth by the Medical Record Department.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Standing up to eight hours a day, two to four hours at a time. Walking up to eight hours a day, two to four hours at a time. Fingering and handling frequently. Twisting and turning of hands occasionally. Occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs. Frequent carrying up to 25 lbs. Occasionally up to 50 lbs. Frequently pushing and pulling up to 75 lbs., occasionally exceeding 100 lbs. Occasionally stoops, bends, squats, kneels, and reaches above shoulder level. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation seeing as it relates to general and near vision.
EDUCATION:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Health care specialty training preferred.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Individualized orientation program for all areas on site. Obtain BLS certification within sixty days of employment or transfer to position. Basic computer skills required.
