Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Analyst with expertise in Tableau and data visualization to assist the Executive Office for Administration and Finance IT (A&F IT) in supporting the Commonwealth's Designer Selection Board (DSB). The successful candidate will design, develop, and implement insightful dashboards and reports while collaborating closely with stakeholders and providing training to ensure long-term independent use of Tableau.

Key Responsibilities
Tableau Installation and Configuration
  • Collaborate with A&F IT personnel to install and configure Tableau Desktop on designated workstations.
  • Integrate Tableau with various data sources such as the data warehouse, Excel, and other relevant systems.
Dashboard and Report Development
  • Define reporting needs and key performance indicators (KPIs) for various user groups.
  • Develop visually impactful and interactive Tableau dashboards and reports that meet accessibility standards.
  • Ensure usability for both technical and non-technical users, tailoring dashboards for diverse stakeholder needs.
Data Integration and Automation
  • Establish automated data connections for seamless dashboard updates from multiple data sources.
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy in all data visualizations and reports.
Training and Knowledge Transfer
  • Conduct comprehensive training sessions to equip team members with the skills to create and modify Tableau dashboards independently.
  • Share best practices in data integration, manipulation, and visualization techniques.
  • Provide detailed documentation for future reference and troubleshooting.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather dashboard requirements and ensure alignment with reporting objectives.
  • Deliver presentations and regular updates on dashboard progress.
Documentation
  • Create process guides and detailed documentation for report creation, data integration, and dashboard customization.
  • Provide step-by-step troubleshooting instructions for common issues.
Deliverables
  1. Tableau installed and fully configured across designated workstations.
  2. A suite of tailored Tableau dashboards and reports designed with advanced data visualization techniques.
  3. Automated data connections ensuring up-to-date dashboards from integrated data sources.
  4. Comprehensive training sessions and knowledge transfer for the DSB team and other staff.
  5. Detailed documentation covering dashboard processes, best practices, and troubleshooting.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of expertise in Tableau and data visualization.
    • Proven experience in data integration with tools like Excel, data warehouses, and databases.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in creating clear, compelling dashboards for diverse audiences.
    • Strong understanding of accessibility standards in data visualization.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Demonstrated ability to train and transfer knowledge effectively.
    • Collaborative mindset, especially with teams new to Tableau.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with data centralization and analytics initiatives.
  • Prior experience working with public-sector or government agencies.
  • Ability to balance technical proficiency with a user-centric approach to data visualization.
