Skills: A Principal Data Engineer contributes to the development and operation of a modern analytical data store/catalog which supports the Quality-of-Life Project and other projects in the organization; contributes advanced data integration, data quality, data operations, data platform architecture, and data governance expertise to the Analytical Data Store/Catalog which contains both granular structured/unstructured data as well as aggregated data elements to ensure optimal flexibility to support a variety of analytical use cases. The Principal Data Engineer will work in The AI Analytics Team of the Quality-of-Life Project to develop predictive and prescriptive data solutions which require a single source of the truth. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; customer service orientation; strong analytical & business acumen; Excellent time management and organization abilities; with a proven capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; Highly collaborative, yet capable of working independently with focus and self-direction on projects; Meticulous and dedicated to delivering high-quality work; and effective mentor, providing guidance and support to junior data engineers and database administrators
Experience: Five (5) + years of professional work experience specializing in Databricks with significant expertise in data engineering, data integration, data warehousing, and cloud computing, or a combination thereof, and 5 years of progressively responsible experience in data-related requirements, design, development, and deployment efforts: Five (5) years of experience in Databricks Five (5) years of experience in developing data pipelines using Python Five (5) years of experience in Lakehouse Platform Two (2) + years of experience in designing and developing Databricks medallion lakehouse architecture, applying data governance, and data quality best practices One (1) year of experience in developing data models One (1) year of experience in Azure Data Factory One (1) year of experience in Managing Azure Resources One (1) year of experience in automating Azure Data Resources using DataOps
Education: This classification requires the possession of a Bachelor's in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Additional Information
California Resident Candidates Only. Work is expected to be mostly REMOTE, and interviews will be conducted via Microsoft TEAMS. Work schedule will be 4/40, 10-hour day within the M-TH work schedule at the discretion of the program manager. Work shift ranges from 7:15am to 6:00pm.
