Chief Information Officer (CIO)
Qualifications
- Masters’ degree in Computer Science or related field. A Ph.D. degree is preferred.
- 10 years experience in software development with direct responsibility for manufacturing software products and providing customer support.
- Experience in a small software business, with 5+ years in a managerial or CIO position.
- Proven leadership skills for management and development of staff.
- Strong interpersonal skills for communication with staff, peers, officers, and Board of Directors.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong background in various aspects of software development including design, specification, programming, documentation, quality control, verification and validation; various Local and Wide Area Network technology; server infrastructure environments; and e-commerce.
Responsibilities
- Direct all software development activities, allocate resources, review work plans and modify as necessary, and set priorities, objectives, and schedules.
- Explore new technologies for future planning and potential implementation.
- Interview, hire, and train employees, as well as plan, assign, and direct work as needed.
- Provide executive management leadership for all information technology and software development.
- Direct project management of major software development projects.
- Develop service level agreements for all information technology areas to ensure that deployed resources are utilized appropriately and improved in a systematic manner.
- Determine short, intermediate and long-term technology needs and develop and lead execution of acquisition, implementation and maintenance strategies and tactics in support of these needs.
- Provide strategic input into the business strategy development leveraging information technologies and influence/persuade for its acceptance.
- Direct implementation and execution of new/upgraded information systems within budget parameters via well-defined plans including procedures, deadlines and accountability.
- Develop and manage the Information Technology department within approved budget parameters.
- Advise the officers and Board of Directors regarding key information technology trends, technologies, risks, competitive threats and significant issues that may create opportunities for (or risks to) the Information Technology department ability to deliver on objectives.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures to ensure protection and security of company IT assets, trade secrets, and Intellectual Property.
- Develop a business recovery plan to provide timely and effective restoration of IT services in the event of disaster.
