Barings - Global Private Credit – Sponsor Finance

Job Summary

The Global Private Credit – Sponsor Finance team is seeking a Managing Director with experience in providing cash flow-based financing solutions to private equity sponsored transactions across a variety of industries. Ideal candidates will possess established private equity sponsor relationships, strong credit skills and be able to make meaningful contributions to all aspects of the deal process. All candidates should have demonstrated track record of leading middle market leveraged buyouts. Please indicate location preference upon application.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Originate opportunities in lead capacity and manage all aspects of the financings for senior debt, unitranche, second lien, mezzanine and equity or equity-like investments.
  2. Work closely with the existing origination team to further expand our private equity relationships in the U.S.
  3. Develop, maintain and institutionalize private equity relationships by supervising and reporting material fund raising, investment and portfolio activities.
  4. Develop, maintain and institutionalize relationships with prospective business owners, targets, investment bankers, business brokers and advisors.
  5. Oversee all aspects of the due diligence processes, including screening, underwriting and portfolio management.
  6. Present investment memos and amendment requests to Investment Committee.
  7. Negotiate and review term sheets, credit agreements and associated legal documents.
  8. Supervise and mentor junior professionals.
  9. Assist with special projects, as needed.

Qualifications

  1. 15+ years of middle market cash flow lending experience as lead agent at a direct lender, investment bank, commercial bank, BDC or similar platform. Completion of formal credit training program preferred.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration from top university required. Advanced Degree and/or CFA/CPA expected.
  3. Fluent knowledge of current market terms and competitive landscape.
  4. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and negotiation skills.
  5. Team player, with exemplary work ethic and ability to work under pressure.
  6. Ability to multi-task and independently manage deadlines.
  7. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant technology tools.
  8. Travel will be required and could be up to 50% domestic.
