Vaco is seeking an experienced and strategic Payroll Director to lead a great payroll department. The Payroll Director will be responsible for overseeing all payroll operations, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and implementing best practices to improve efficiency and accuracy. This role involves managing a team of payroll professionals and working closely with other departments to support our organization's goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Management:
    • Lead and manage the payroll team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
    • Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures.
    • Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing for all employees across multiple states.
    • Oversee the transition and implementation of new payroll software systems.
  2. Strategic Planning and Execution:
    • Develop and execute payroll strategies that align with the company's objectives.
    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.
    • Collaborate with HR, finance, and other departments to ensure seamless payroll operations.
  3. Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
    • Prepare and submit payroll-related reports to management and regulatory bodies.
    • Oversee the tracking and deduction of garnishments, tax levies, and other special payroll deductions.
    • Respond to and resolve payroll-related audits and inquiries.
  4. Employee Relations:
    • Address and resolve complex payroll issues and concerns from employees.
    • Communicate payroll policies and procedures to employees and management.
    • Provide exceptional support and service to the employee population.
  5. Data Integrity and Security:
    • Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive payroll data.
    • Ensure all payroll information, files, and records are securely maintained.

Requirements:

  1. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of payroll processing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  2. Technical Skills: Extensive experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Workday) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  3. Knowledge: In-depth understanding of payroll practices, tax regulations, and wage and hour laws.
  4. Skills:
    • Strong leadership and management skills.
    • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
    • Superior communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • High attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
