Director, Cloud Platform Engineering - Azure

Responsibilities:
Azure Cloud Practice Technical Leadership and Mentorship:
- Lead and mentor team members on Azure cloud design patterns.
- Foster a culture of best practices and knowledge sharing within the Cloud Practice, promoting the utilization of Azure Landing Zones and centralized management for consistent governance.
Azure Cloud Platform Engineering:
- Design, engineer, and deliver advanced hybrid cloud platforms and infrastructure features using Azure services like Azure Virtual Network, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and Azure Container Instances.
- Implement an automation-first approach using Azure-native and Terraform infrastructure-as-code technologies, ensuring central control and governance over the deployment process.
Azure Cloud Practice Solution Quality and Security:
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality Azure cloud solutions, prioritizing security, instrumentation, and extensibility specific to Azure.
- Promote and uphold Azure-specific standards and Well-Architected best practices for design, engineering changes, cost optimization, and configuration management.
- Ensure compliance with appropriate governance requirements within Azure Service Catalog, including Azure Policy and Azure Blueprints.
Azure Cloud Practice Infrastructure and Operations:
- Provide integrations with corporate data centers and shared Azure cloud infrastructure services.
- Engineer and continuously improve Azure-specific infrastructure stacks, templates, images, and other artifacts.
Azure Cloud Practice Service Design, Automation, and Deployment:
- Translate service requirements into Azure-specific service models (templates) and workflows for automatic provisioning.
- Implement and automate Azure-specific security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation.
- Manage and enhance Azure Service Catalog to enable streamlined provisioning of approved Azure services.
Control Frameworks and Compliance:
- Implement and maintain control frameworks such as HIPAA, HITrust, and PCI to ensure the highest level of security and compliance in Azure cloud solutions.
- Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure Azure cloud services meet regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- 5 - 7 years of experience with infrastructure and cloud technologies with a minimum of 3 years of proven experience in Azure cloud architecture and design.
- 3 years minimum experience managing engineering teams with strong leadership and mentoring skills to guide a team of cloud engineers.
- Deep knowledge of Azure services, infrastructure as code, Azure DevOps and automation tools including Terraform, Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, or Bicep.
- Excellent understanding of security, compliance, and governance in Azure including Azure Security Center and Azure Policy.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset with experience in Azure Well-Architected frameworks.
- Familiarity with Entra ID for identity and access management.
- Familiarity with Azure App Services for building, deploying, and scaling web apps.
Bonus Qualification:
- Experience with Python and PowerShell is a bonus.
