Kelley Drye & Warren LLP, a powerhouse firm with the heart of a boutique, is seeking a Legal Recruiting Manager based in the Washington, DC office. This role will have firm-wide responsibilities as part of the Human Resources Department, and is responsible for all phases of non-partner attorney recruitment. This position regularly interacts with attorneys, administrators and management throughout the firm. We are a collaborative, energetic and busy team looking for someone who is eager to jump in. The hours are Monday-Friday 9:00a.m. – 5:30 p.m., but flexibility to work additional hours is required. This is a hybrid position with a minimum number of at least three days in the office. Essential Functions:
SUMMER ASSOCIATE RECRUITING
- Oversee the law student recruiting process and summer associate programs in Washington, DC, New York, New Jersey, Houston and Connecticut.
- Develop and maintain relationships with law school career services offices and student organizations at key feeder schools to coordinate firm participation and sponsorship of outreach activities.
- Lead the 1L and 2L law student recruiting process from screening interviews/on-campus recruiting to facilitating the callback interview and offer process.
- Manage the planning and execution of the summer associate program including the work assignment and evaluation processes, events, and other logistics. Coordinate with firm-wide recruiting team to create a cohesive experience throughout the firm.
- Support the Hiring Partner and Recruiting Committee to develop and implement hiring strategies, and contribute to the development of firm-wide law student recruiting processes and policies.
LATERAL ASSOCIATE RECRUITING
- Collaborate with Recruiting, Professional Development, Diversity & Inclusion and Legal Personnel team members to create a seamless and efficient approach to recruiting, onboarding and integration across offices.
- Cultivate a strong understanding of various legal markets and build relationships with key recruiters in those markets to ensure they understand the firm's hiring needs and properly convey our firm culture.
- Communicate with practice group leaders and practice management professionals across the firm to get a clear view of lateral associate hiring needs and firm goals; draft job descriptions and gain MP, OMP and Attorneys Committee approval on all searches; provide suggestions on how to source and identify talent that aligns with the needs of the relevant practice group.
- Oversee the full recruitment cycle for lateral associate candidates firm-wide, working closely with the Recruiting Administrator and Recruiting Assistant to source candidates, schedule interviews, collect feedback, seek offer approvals, conduct due diligence on candidates, and facilitate onboarding and orientation.
- Collaborate with Recruiting, Professional Development, Diversity & Inclusion and Legal Personnel team members to create and execute integration plans for lateral hires, taking into consideration the needs of specific groups and building in flexibility and accountability.
MISC.
- Supervise the Recruiting Administrator and the Recruiting Assistant.
- Work closely with Director of Diversity & Inclusion to strategically recruit and succeffully integrate and retain diverse talent.
- Proactively source candidates to build a diverse talent pipeline.
- Develop a strong understanding of firm policies, practices, and market differentiators and effectively communicate with law students, attorneys and search firms throughout the recruitment process.
- Collaborate with broader HR and Legal Personnel team on various tasks/projects, as needed.
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree.
- 5+ years of law firm recruiting experience.
- Service-oriented demeanor; strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with a variety of people including senior professionals.
- Excellent judgment, including sensitivity to confidential information.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to details and accuracy.
- Demonstrated resourcefulness, creativity and self-directed behavior; able to work individually as well as collaboratively as an active member of the Legal Personnel and HR teams.
- Strong computer skills, MS Office Suite preferred, as well as web application and database experience is required. Experience with MS Teams and viDesktop is a plus.
- Flexible and adaptable, willing to change direction and priorities to accommodate firm and department needs.
