USC's Office of the General Counsel provides legal services to USC and certain of its subsidiaries and affiliates.

Currently, we are seeking a Graduate Legal Fellow for a one (1) year fixed-term opportunity to work directly in the Office of the General Counsel.

This position is open to 2024 law school graduates and will be responsible for providing legal support services to university clients on the University Park Campus, including contract workflow management and processing, contract review and drafting, legal research as well as other legal matters based on client needs. Types of contracts include the purchase of goods or services, institutional affiliation, clinical placements, intellectual property licensing as well as other areas, including contracts that support the university’s health care operations. The Legal Fellow will perform legal and other research in support of various issues and inquiries as they arise, will work with supervising attorneys in conducting diligence and servicing clients on various matters and will provide professional support to all staff or attorneys, as required.

The annual base salary range for this position is $68,640.00 - $80,000.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Minimum Education: Juris Doctor (JD)

Minimum Experience: 1 year legal

Minimum Skills: Experience in business transactions, contract drafting and review. Resourceful and motivated. Superior legal research and writing skills and excellent interpersonal skills. Knowledge of relevant federal, state and local laws and regulations.
