Who we are looking for

State Street Secured Financing provides secured investment and financing solutions, primarily through repurchase agreement (repo) trading services. The principal repo trading business is a global program that focuses on cleared transactions across multiple CCPs. Today, the business is predominantly driven by the FICC sponsored member repo platform that allows clients to borrow or invest cash through the US Treasury repo market but continues to expand. These structures provide a scalable offering that services a broad range of buy-side clients.

Secured Financing has been in business for over seven years, has a global client base, continues to experience exponential growth, and is currently one of the fastest-growing products within State Street.

SSGM seeks a Head of Secured Financing Trading to help us manage the existing global book of business and grow our share in a competitive market landscape. This involves leading a team of traders responsible for driving financial budget outcomes while servicing clients through an expanding set of trading solutions. The individual will report to the Head of Secured Financing.

This role will be based in Boston, MA. Internal candidates will be considered for this role. Due to the role requirements, this job needs to be performed primarily in the office.

What you will be responsible for

As Global Head of Secured Financing Trading, MD you will:

  • Own and be accountable for all repo trading activities globally, including matched book activity in the FICC Sponsored Repo program inclusive of over 150 clients trading daily.
  • Manage two traders in North America and oversee four traders across EMEA and APAC.
  • Drive trading revenue/NII to meet budget targets for the repo business lines, considering return metrics.
  • Lead global trading desk expansion across North American, European, and Asia-Pacific desks.
  • Execute funding for the Treasury division globally for all repo funding and investment portfolio needs.
  • Serve and develop cash investment fund manager relationships, providing color across short-term PMs, treasurers, and traders of asset owners, asset managers, and alternative funds.
  • Serve as a senior contact to a number of top-tier alternative funds covering various levered, government bond financing strategies.
  • Maintain and develop supply/sell side relationships to ensure proper collateralization.
  • Support product strategies that will lead to new business and improved financing opportunities.
  • Work closely with partner teams in Sales, Client Management, and Product Development to deliver an exceptional product experience for our clients.
  • Ability to partner with Treasury to influence and manage balance sheet resourcing.
  • Influence budget and forward-looking strategy.
  • Partner with State Street’s Research department to generate content for client distribution.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years in repo trading and matched book activities; experience in FICC sponsored repo.
  • Proficiency in Bloomberg and Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.

Salary Range:

$235,000 - $246,250 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
