Position Summary
We're seeking a full-time Sr. Corporate Counsel for Labor and Employment for our Los Angeles or Seattle corporate office. As a Sr. Corporate Counsel for Labor and Employment, you will report to the General Counsel for the Americas. You will be responsible for providing proactive and practical day-to-day counseling, legal advice, and support primarily on US federal and California law issues to our HR department, our warehouse labor force providers, and other employment related issues. You will partner closely with other members of the US Legal team and support internal clients of all levels. You will also serve as a PM for regional or global HR projects to be implemented in the Americas. For the other Americas countries, primarily Brazil, Canada, and Mexico. This is a strong growth opportunity for an enterprising lawyer looking to join a fast-paced and dynamic team.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide in-house legal counsel on employment-related matters, which may include, but are not limited to, termination and counseling decisions, wage and hour law, workers’ compensation, unemployment and other state agency claims, employee benefits, immigration, employment agreements and policy-related issues, leave and accommodation requests, employment related litigation, grievances, and arbitrations.
- Conduct and/or manage internal investigations, provide counsel and coaching to managers regarding compliance with employment laws.
- Resolve complex employee relations issues effectively, including managing relationships and costs with outside counsel on employment litigation.
- Manage and/or respond to complaints brought to HR, administrative charges, and employment lawsuits to strategically minimize losses and disruption to the business.
- Stay up-to-date on employment laws in California, Washington, and other relevant states and provide recommendations and guidance to leadership on potential impact of new or existing regulations and current policies and practices.
- Revise Employee Handbook and HR policies as needed and advise the Human Resources team and executives on policy decisions, emerging risk areas, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Oversee immigration issues including visa sponsorships.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school.
- Member in good standing of at least one state bar, preferably California.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in a dedicated employment law practice with about five years of solid law firm experience and about two years in-house experience as an employment or labor lawyer.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills. This position requires fast-paced multi-tasking and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple issues involving business partners in various locations.
- Good communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills within and across departments and externally; must be proactive in providing counsel to clients and be able to work in cross-functional environment.
- Sound judgment; ability to clearly make reasoned recommendations; ability to cross think and determine who should be kept informed.
- Self-starter with strong critical thinking and sound judgment to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment.
- Willingness to learn and contribute to substantive areas outside of labor and employment law especially with respect to routine contentious matters and litigation.

Pay
$118,500.00 min. - $202,000.00 max annually. Bonus & RSU offered.
