Filamatic has an opportunity for a Chief Operating Officer (COO) who will support the CEO in shaping business strategies, organizational design, and policy that will maximize profitability and drive efficiencies throughout the business. As the COO you will be a pivotal member of the executive leadership team driving transformation through the implementation and management of our operating system (EOS). Our operating system defines our vision, ensures we have the right people in the right roles, leverages data to drive decisions, identifies critical issues, implements processes to drive efficiencies and sets achievable quarterly goals to maintain the traction required to meet our short- and long-term goals.


Through your strategic leadership of Sales, Operations, Finance, Accounting and HR teams you will drive the Annual Operation Planning process and then ensure each key group you lead has the people, resources, and necessary tools to execute their part at the highest level. The COO will drive and maintain a culture where everyone understands our goals, their role and the part they play in achieving them. This is an onsite role that will be based our of our office in Baltimore, MD.


Responsibilities


  • Operational Excellence
    • Productions – Reduce cost of products and labor by leveraging Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VAVE), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and LEAN Manufacturing principles and through strategic outsourcing of products and manufacturing processes that are not aligned with Filamatic core competency framework.
    • Project Management – drive an effective and transparent project management function that creates consistency in delivering products to our customers that meets/exceeds expectations, on-time and on budget.
    • Sustain and enhance Filamatic technology infrastructure and information systems.
    • Advance the business by shaping and implementing strategies and developing the associated roadmaps when applicable.
    • Manage organizational risk through careful planning, market knowledge, and leveraging appropriate tools to drive steady growth and remove obstacles and barriers hindering any efforts.
  • Financial Management
    • Play a key role in financial management and budgeting processes, including setting targets and monitoring material costs and other financial metrics.
    • Leverage (AOP) Annual Operating Plan [EBITDA, Gross Margin, Revenue, Backlog (Net, Gross), Cash Flow from Operations, Lead Time by Product Type], Customer Satisfaction, Employee Engagement to meet company’s goals.
  • Grow revenue, increase market penetration, and customer satisfaction by driving the activities along the product lifecycle continuum and execution of the AOP and related initiatives.
    • Ensure financial literacy across the organization, promoting accountability and understanding from top to bottom.
    • Measure performance based on revenue growth, EBITDA, quality metrics, and employee development initiatives.
  • Leadership and Culture
    • Embody and enhance the company culture, characterized by inclusivity, dedication, and a commitment to internal growth.
    • Exhibit a willingness to lead by example, getting hands-on and actively involved in operational aspects while removing any obstacles and barriers.
  • Mentor, train, grow Filamatic employees through routine interactions, coaching/ “1 on 1’s”, and setting goals that align with our strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstrate a visible and supportive leadership style, engaging with employees while supporting a culture of accountability.

Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, business, or operations management. MBA is a plus.
  • 15+ years of industrial machinery manufacturing experience.
  • 15+ years of business leadership experience with 5+ years in an executive-level operations role.
  • Experience overseeing multiple functions and/or business units.
  • Demonstrated experience as a strategic leader in discrete manufacturing environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that foster effective communication (verbal and written) and relationships with internal and external stakeholders and the broader Filamatic team.
  • Exceptional analytical abilities that facilitate solving complex technical problems including experience in realizing results using contemporary change management frameworks (lean, six-sigma, theory of constraints, etc.).
  • Knowledge and expertise with information systems including Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERP).
  • Passionate about mentoring, developing, and motivating others.
  • Successful experience implementing and maintaining an EOS (Enterprise Operating System) at an industrial machinery manufacturing company is a plus.
  • Successful track record of growing sales and profitability on a sustainable basis.
  • Experience utilizing ERP and Project Management systems.
  • Track record of growing market share and creating a sustainable superior value proposition.

Compensation and Benefits


Salary Range: $200,000 - $225,000 plus bonus.


Benefits: Excellent benefits package that allows you to accrue 4 weeks of annual vacation, 10 paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave, Medical (3 different plan options), Dental, Vision, among some of our benefit offerings. Eligibility for insurance and 401K is the first of the month following 30 days of employment.
