Description:

Under the direction of the County of Santa Clara Health System (CSCHS) Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Operating Officer manages and directs administrative functions, activities, services, and staff for the County of Santa Clara Health System. This position will develop and manage strategic plans and implement high standards of service excellence, community, and business relations, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes. The COO is responsible for the general operations and related functions of the enterprise health system, maintaining conditions for the effective and efficient operation of hospitals and clinics. Responsibilities include developing goals and expectations that enable staff to deliver high-quality, cost-effective care and services.

The ideal candidate is a strategic and operational leader who is collaborative, effective at building trusting relationships, and has a track record in hospital operations, quality improvement methods, driving change, leveraging data, and mentoring teams. Possessing humility and integrity, the successful candidate will be a systems thinker and action-oriented leader who motivates and empowers staff. Excellent communication, relationship-building, and decision-making skills are essential. The candidate will be highly visible, transparent, innovative, and collaborative with key stakeholders across Santa Clara Valley Healthcare and the local community.

Education/Certifications/Experience:

The ideal candidate should possess a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Hospital Administration, Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field, along with approximately 7 – 10 years of increasingly responsible experience in hospital management, with a significant amount in a senior management position within a health or hospital system, preferably in a teaching hospital.
