Employees are held accountable, and the best team members embrace and appreciate this accountability.Mission of RoleThe Orthodontic assistant reports to the Practice Administrator and the Orthodontist. The Mission of the ortho assistant is to create a relationship with patients, assisting the orthodontist to increase production, assist the orthodontist in the bonding/debonding of braces, making adjustments, seating appliances, and ensure that the patients treatment remains on schedule by scheduling back each patient in treatment for their next visit. The dental assistant must be knowledgeable about dentistry and orthodontics. The dental assistant must be able to work with the orthodontist in a wider variety of orthodontic procedures.Key ResponsibilitiesSeating patient and provide patient comfortUpdating patient health histories if needed and update the orthodontist of any changesBe completely prepared for procedure prior to the orthodontist coming in treatment roomAssisting chair side with dentist with a wide variety of orthodontic proceduresTaking x-raysChecking to make sure that all lab cases are here and logging them in Easy RXClinical notes completed each day in patients WAVE chartEffective knowledge and use of the iTero, scanning patients in a timely manner (under 7 minutes to scan)Taking impressions, pouring up impressions and lab workEnsure that the lab area is clean, organized and adheres to OSHA compliance standardsMaking retainers and trimming appropriately Some independent work with patients Ordering list is updated for supplies needed and putting supplies away as well as stocking roomsPatient education about proceduresCleaning and setting up roomsSterilizing instruments and overall upkeep/organization of sterilization areaEquipment maintenance and upkeepOther responsibilities not listed such as open communication, Level 10 individual RocksKey CompetenciesCustomer FocusGood oral communicationTeam playerOrganization/planningResourcefulness/InitiativeExcellenceAdaptableLikabilityStress managementListeningIntegrityIntelligenceAssertivenessEnthusiasm/passion
