The City of Everett is accepting applications on an open/competitive basis for the Civil Service examination process for

ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR I .There are two vacancies for this position.

About the Job The electrical inspector position involves performing inspections of a variety of electrical installations to determine whether plans, workmanship, and materials conform with requirements set forth in state, municipal and national codes. In addition, inspection of relevant work pertaining to the Washington State Energy Code and the accessibility requirements of the Washington State Building Code is performed. Employees usually work independently in the field and are responsible for independent decisions requiring technical judgment. The work is performed under the supervision of the Chief Inspector and the Building Official.

About the Division The Permit Services inspection workgroup inspects all facets of construction for private development. This includes building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, utilities, roadways, and sitework for diverse types of projects, including residential, commercial, hospitals, industrial facilities, port facilities, marinas, mid- and high-rise buildings, nuclear research and development, various manufacturing including one of the world's largest manufacturing plants. The inspection workgroup is made up of highly trained tradespersons with numerous years of construction experience. Most of the positions require licensing, training, and certifications. The workgroup is currently staffed by ten inspectors who collectively complete roughly 20,000 inspections each year. The inspectors also perform plan reviews and field a variety of technical inquiries providing exceptional customer service to owners, architects, engineers, and contractors. This group of inspectors keeps construction moving while maintaining minimum standards throughout the City of Everett.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Requires four (4) years journey-level experience as an electrician including experience in various types of construction from residential through commercial and industrial

AND

a General Class Journeyman Electrician License, "ELO1"

AND

experience in various phases of electrical work including new installation, repair, maintenance, remodeling, and design. Inspection experience is highly desirable. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OR CERTIFICATIONS

Possession of, a valid, unrestricted (corrective lenses allowed) driver license at the date of hire; and the ability to obtain and maintain a valid, unrestricted Washington State Driver License within 30 days of hire. HOW TO APPLY

There will be a pre-screening of all applications. Responses to the supplemental questionnaire will be individually reviewed and evaluated (weighted 30%). Top-scoring applicants will be called to an oral panel interview (weighted 70%). All vacancies in this job class will be filled from the ranked Civil Service register established from the examination process for 12 months. IMPORTANT NOTES

A passing grade of 70.00 or higher is required on all parts of the screening process for placement on the ranked Civil Service eligible register. The examination process is designed to sample and measure the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities. Policy

Benefit eligibility for the employee and eligible dependents begins the first day of the month following the employee's hire date. Premiums for Delta Dental and HMA Vision are paid by the City on behalf of the employee and eligible dependents. Premiums for HMA Medical and Kaiser Medical Coverage are shared by the employee. Premiums for Life, and Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage on behalf of the employee are paid by the City.
