Field Service Manager

What will you do?

As a representative of Schneider Electric, the Field Service Manager (“FSM”) regularly interfaces with senior management and customers on all post-order services, including support of small project efforts and resolution of critical customer situations. The FSM serves as the local face and voice of Schneider Electric to our customers and our Field Service Representatives (“FSR’s”) and reports to the Director of Field Services for North America. The FSM works closely with sales team and leadership on customer opportunities and identifying required needs to enhance sales potential while providing a profitable business base. This position requires strong communication skills.

  • Manages all Process Automation FSR’s within the geographic area, territory coverage is AZ, UT and surrounding western Unites States.
  • Ensures the delivery of quality services and solutions to regional customers while achieving customer satisfaction and targeted business objectives.
  • Conducts monthly safety meetings, perform FSR site safety audits, completes incident reviews, and ensures compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Manages and schedules resources for all service projects along with the attending financial reviews
  • Manages the technical, commercial, and organizational activities of the Field Services operation for the western USA within the Process Automation business for Schneider Electric.
  • Provides leadership in the field management of all company DCS, Safety, and PLC systems and services shipped to the assigned Region.
  • Develops and fosters strategic relationships with key customers within their region.
  • Promotes existing customer services, integrates new offerings, and identifies potential business opportunities in cooperation with sales.
  • During the quotation and implementation phases, assesses the business and technical risks associated with applicable services.
  • Utilizes SAP to monitor and track team performance including billable utilization, overtime, and profitability.
  • Ensures that appropriate records and systems are maintained for training, safety and customer interactions.
  • Collaborates with internal functions such as project engineering, R&D, support, legal, finance and proposal teams.
  • Meets all Services goals and objectives for the region.
  • Schedules personnel responding to critical situations.
  • Maintains communication with design management and specialists in resolving technical problems and/or bringing problems to the design group’s attention.
  • Interprets and applies existing Company policies, recommends inter-department policies and procedure changes.
  • Selects, develops, and mentor personnel to maximize their growth and development.
  • Understanding and adherence to customers' safety regulations
  • Physically able to tolerate difficult or extreme working environments

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Chemical, Control, or Electrical Engineering
  • Typically requires 12+ years of related professional experience in the process control industry
  • 7+ years of management experience, or equivalent
  • Expertise in major DCS and SIS projects
  • Deep expertise with control and/or safety systems Project Engineering and/or Field Services practices and tools
  • Strong business acumen and focused on driving client business results using relevant product and services offerings
  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent critical thinking as well as bringing a strategic, consultative viewpoint to bear
  • Excellent presentation and communications skills, both written and oral
  • High level of energy and passion, a tolerance for last minute travel, and extra work hours as needed
  • Flexible attitude and excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan and execute a variety of tasks on a timely basis and as the situation requires
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and allocate resources to ensure achievement of revenue objectives
