Schneider Electric USA, Inc. seeks a Microgrid Project Engineer in Alpharetta, GA.
Job Description: Prepare functional specification, HMI specification documents, communication architectures, I/O lists (HW/Soft), protection philosophy manuals and application notes related to Microgrid projects. Integrate intelligent protection relays in automation architectures. Integrate Distributed Energy Resources into a power system scheme, both for communication and electrical connection. Design and review schematics of protection and control panels. Configure protection relays, PLC, HMI and other intelligent electronic devices. Program automation devices such as protection relays and programmable logic controllers (PLC). Configure protection settings in protection relays from Short Circuit and Arc Flash studies. Prepare and lead factory acceptance and commissioning. commissioning coordination. Plan and implement training courses and presentations for internal and external customers. Position eligible for remote work but must live local and periodically report in person to SE worksite location in Alpharetta, GA.
Requirements: Position requires bachelor’s or master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, or related and progressive, post-bachelor’s experience (5 years with bachelor’s or 3 years with master’s) in engineering project design and execution in the power system field, or related field, which must include at least some experience in the following skills: Designing generator control paralleling schemes; Verifying Schneider Electric low voltage switchboard designs and validating the selection of Schneider Electric breakers; Creating a network communication diagram including generator control systems and a Schneider Electric SCADA system; Creating PLC configuration using Schneider Electric PLC tool suite (Machine Expert, Control Expert, or Automation Expert); Realizing site audits of electrical and generator control systems; Coordinating with inverter-based power sources (solar inverters or batter energy storage inverters); and Creating IO lists for electrical and control systems, including PLC, protection systems and switchgears.
