What you’ll be doing This position is for a Cassandra Architect that will be responsible to manage Enterprise wide Datastax and Open Source Cassandra Database environments at Verizon wireless. The responsibilities would include- Supporting multiple suite of applications ranging from Billing, Rating, Provisioning, Profile management, etc for B2C & B2B customers . Managing SDLC life cycle for multiple applications. Being responsible for Production / Development engagement, emerging technology development, security Management. Being responsible for Capacity / Performance planning / Availability Management, change Management and Cloud Migration. What we’re looking for You will need to have Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training. Experience as Cassandra Architect ,you will work with development and SRE teams to review application data models and traffic requirements; identify data model issues and potential bottlenecks; recommend schema design changes, compaction strategies, & other improvements. Experience on Spark, Hadoop distribution and Solr Experience in implementing enterprise level data management and analytical solutions i.e ODS, EDW, Data Lake, EPM, etc Knowledge and experience with parallel ETL tools- Experience developing large-scale system software Experience with the entire product life cycle: design, implementation, testing, deployment and maintenance. Experience in Java, Linux, SQL, CQL, etc Extensive experience managing highly-available, large, multi-datacenter Cassandra clusters in production. Experience scaling Cassandra clusters to support high read/write throughput and tuning Cassandra & the JVM for low-latency response times. Knowledge of Cassandra data modeling patterns and anti-patterns; experience working closely with development teams to design & optimize database schema based on application access patterns. Experience in Amazon AWS cloud infrastructure with particular reference to provisioning, security, and management. Design AWS infrastructure to move local applications to public & private cloud. Design complex solutions which integrate AWS cloud, on premise physical and Virtual server, EC2, S3 storage, networking and security. Conduct systems design, feasibility and cost studies and recommend cost-effective cloud solutions Experience with designing, deploying and supporting highly available and scalable distributed Cassandra (Datastax OR Apache) database solutions for high transactions mission critical applications. Experience with developing data models and perform planning of architecture, functions, modules, recovery, standards and implementation Experience with Installations, configurations and monitoring DataStax Enterprise cluster and/or open source cassandra cluster Experience with maintaining and developing data models, structures, and procedures to ensure the integrity and performance of database components Experience with working with internal and external customers to develop new value-added programs and data solutions with existing data warehouse structure Experience with analyzing and determining information needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities Create ad-hoc reports utilizing various data sources. 247 on-call operations for mission critical application. Even better if you have one or more of the following: Experience with developing standardized AMI images and Cloud formation automation scripts for building non-prod and prod environments on AWS Experience scripting administrative tasks using python or shell scripts. (If you’ve written larger scripts or apps with python, even better.) Experience with configuration management and source control systems (Ansible, Git). Knowledge of Unix/Linux operating system management & fundamentals. Experience working with Agile methodologies. Team player in a global team setup i.e. multi-location/on-site/off-shore/time-zones, and be able to work independently with little supervision. Certifications in Cassandra and/or AWS Experience with performance tuning of Cassandra clusters to support high read/write throughput while minimizing latency. Experience with Analysis of database access patterns to isolate hotspots, data model problems, and other bottlenecks. Experience with planning, testing, and executing standard cluster maintenance activities & Cassandra version upgrades. Experience with performing proactive capacity planning and forecasting based on database usage patterns and new business initiatives. Experience with establishing standards and best practices for operating a high-performance, distributed NoSQL computing environment. Experience with diagnosing and troubleshooting production issues as needed. Experience with visualization/analytical tools like Tableau, Qlikview etc Communication, coordination and planning with Engineering, SRE and development teams. If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $121,000.00 and $224,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
