Working under the guidance of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT), you will assist patients in carrying out therapeutic activities designed to improve physical, emotional, and developmental abilities. This role involves patient interaction, progress documentation, and close collaboration with the OT team to ensure the highest quality of care. Key Responsibilities: Therapeutic Support: Implement and guide patients through therapy plans developed by the OT, using exercises, stretches, and activities to improve mobility, strength, and coordination. Patient Education: Teach patients and their families or caregivers about exercises and techniques to facilitate recovery and enhance independence in daily activities. Progress Monitoring: Observe and document patient progress and response to treatments, noting any challenges or achievements and reporting back to the OT for plan adjustments. Adaptation Assistance: Help patients adapt to equipment or techniques that support daily living, such as mobility aids, adaptive utensils, or home modifications. Record Maintenance: Keep accurate and up-to-date patient records in electronic health systems, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and facility protocols. Patient Comfort & Safety: Ensure a safe and comfortable environment during therapy sessions, assisting patients with positioning and ensuring proper use of equipment. Skills & Qualifications: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members. High level of patience, empathy, and attention to detail. Knowledge of therapeutic exercise techniques, assistive devices, and medical terminology related to occupational therapy. Physical ability to support patients with mobility tasks and demonstrate exercises safely. Education & Experience: Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or a related field from an accredited program. Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in good standing. Previous experience in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting preferred.
