Job Title: Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Specialty: Nuclear Medicine Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8-hour day shift Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Minimum 2-3 years in a similar role License: Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with a certificate of Nuclear Medicine Technology or registered by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) Certifications: NMTCB certification Must-Have: Proficiency in GE Discovery and Toshiba-Siemens Ecam equipment Job Description: - Administer radiopharmaceuticals or radioactive material intravenously or orally to detect or treat diseases, under the direction of a Radiologist. - Detect and map radiopharmaceuticals in patients' bodies using a gamma camera to produce images. - Produce computer-generated images for interpretation by a physician. - Calculate, measure, and record radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received, used, and disposed of, following physician's prescription. - Perform quality control checks on laboratory equipment and cameras. - Maintain and calibrate radioisotope and laboratory equipment. - Dispose of radioactive materials and store radiopharmaceuticals following radiation safety procedures. - Process general nuclear medicine images and conduct cardiac stress tests. - Prepare radiopharmaceuticals, adhering to safety standards to minimize radiation exposure to workers and patients. - Record and process results of procedures. - Explain all aspects of the procedure to patients and keep patients and families informed of radiation safety precautions, waiting times, and progress of the procedure as necessary. - The facility operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, and is closed on weekends and holidays; occasional early shifts may be required.
