Job Description Project Engineer Co-Op Overview Under the direction of a Senior Project Engineer, the Co-Op will support capital projects involving design, procurement, commissioning, start-up, validation, and management of equipment and associated aspects related to the site’s prioritized capital projects. The Co-Op will work closely with departmental and/or cross functional teams focused on delivering project goals. Core Co-Op Responsibilities Provide project management support for GMP equipment procurement and or upgrades from initial specification and selection through procurement and qualification. Develop engineering documentation (User Requirement, P&IDs, etc.) to support equipment design as well as performing engineering calculations required to size process lines, equipment, and instrumentation. Support commissioning and validation of project related equipment, facility, and/or utilities to ensure the system is installed as designed, operates within the design parameters, and can perform as designed to produce the intended product or environment. Key Co-Op Deliverables: Creating cost estimates to be used for requesting funding for capital projects. Managing project budgets. Creating and maintaining the project schedules. Design, procurement, and validation of equipment/utilities. Providing project updates with key stakeholders. Creating engineering documents (Technical Specifications, P&IDs, PD’s, etc.) Supporting FAT activities. Adding new assets into the Maintenance program. This Co-Op position will be based in Worcester, MA. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biology or related program. Must be returning to university for at least one semester following the Co-Op. Expected graduation date between December 2025 – June 2027. Must be able to commit to a 6-month program at the AbbVie Bioresearch Center (ABC) in Worcester, MA (July - December). Preferred Qualifications Excellent problem-solving, written, and verbal skills. Exceptional interpersonal, leadership and project management skills Proven track record of teamwork, adaptability, innovation, initiative, and integrity Self-motivated; ability to execute with limited supervision and direction, working independently or as part of a team.
