Job Title: Central Service Technician II Job Specialty: Central Sterile Processing Job Duration: Not Specified Shift: Evening, Monday to Friday, Weekends & Holidays, 3 PM - 11 PM Guaranteed Hours: Not Specified Experience: Previous experience in Central Supply or Operating Room instrument processing preferred, familiarity with medical technology preferred License: Not Required Certifications: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Central Supply Processing Department Technician (CSPDT) or eligible under grandfather clause Must-Have: High School Diploma or GED Job Description: - Responsible for ensuring surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment are inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, distributed, and tracked efficiently. - Works independently with minimal supervision and qualifies to train others, serving as a resource for Central Processing customers. - Understands and adheres to performance standards, policies, and behaviors. - Demonstrates knowledge of current department and hospital policies and procedures. - Attends meetings to update knowledge of department/hospital issues. - Completes annual competency requirements and documents accordingly. - Adheres to policies and procedures including dress code, conduct, customer service, attendance, and physical submission. - Identifies and uses appropriate methods for sorting, disassembling, decontamination, rinsing, and disinfection of instruments and equipment. - Operates and troubleshoots cleaning equipment, manages waste, linen, and biohazardous material. - Maintains safety standards and ensures sterilizers, cleaners, and washers function properly. - Assembles, protects, wraps, packages, and labels instruments correctly using recipes. - Identifies and inspects instruments for cleanliness and functionality, selecting appropriate sterilization methods. - Documents and verifies sterilization loads and tests to determine process efficacy. - Distributes and tracks medical supplies and equipment, maintains equipment specific to central processing. - Orders, receives, stocks, rotates, delivers, and monitors surgical supplies. - Communicates supply issues promptly. - Maintains a clean and orderly work area, completes housekeeping duties. - Serves as a resource on central processing functions for customers. - Tracks personal progress and compliance with training, meetings, and education. - Distributes and restocks medical supplies, transports patients as required. - Maintains work area in an orderly fashion, applies infection control methods. - Completes 10 Continuing Education Credits annually, submits documentation as required by law. - Performs other related duties as assigned. - Interacts in a pleasant, professional manner, service-oriented, works well under stress, and communicates effectively. - Flexible with changes, attentive to detail, maintains mental/visual acuity, organizes, prioritizes, and executes multiple tasks. - Operates department machinery and equipment safely and efficiently, follows written and oral instructions, identifies malfunctioning equipment, and adapts to routine changes. - Capable of working with all populations, including neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
