Development Full Time Job Summary Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, the Associate Director of Development will work closely with physicians, administrators, and researchers to further all aspects of the fundraising programs for areas to include the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, and the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. Major responsibilities of this role include: Managing the university's relationship with current donors and prospective donors who give or can give at the $100,000 level or above Designing and implementing comprehensive strategies to identify, cultivate, and steward high capacity individuals Developing gift proposals and marketing materials Engaging donors and prospective donors through personal meetings and events based on initiative/division priorities Applying superb project management skills to advance strategic goals Within the first three months, you will begin establishing relationships with program leaders, clinical and lab-based faculty, and internal UDAR colleagues. You will learn about program priorities and development opportunities, familiarize yourself with the donor portfolio, meet key internal stakeholders and partners, and start contributing to the planning and execution of fundraising efforts. After three months, you will be engaging with donors in your portfolio, guiding the direction and implementation of fundraising efforts to improve the major gifts pipeline, and stewarding existing donors. By the end of the first year, you will have identified and cultivated new donors, engaged mid-level and major gift donors, established a strong network of colleagues, and secured valuable support to advance UCSF's mission. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. UCSF Benefits Department Description The UCSF Foundation and the Office of University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) are responsible for fostering and strengthening the campus outreach efforts to UCSF constituents and for garnering private support for the campus and the Medical Center. In raising private support, UDAR identifies, qualifies, solicits and stewards donors for the schools, medical centers, departments and programs on campus; accepts and administers all private gifts to the university through The Regents or the UCSF Foundation; and manages all alumni relations activities, campus support group activities and campus events. The UDAR office staffs the UCSF Foundation. The office is also responsible for the design and implementation of fundraising campaigns for UCSF. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training 5+ years of experience in development or a related field Advanced written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen, to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies. Advanced organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills, including skill in creative and effective decision-making and problem identification / avoidance / resolution, and strong project management skills Very strong skills in maintaining confidentiality Advanced knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques Preferred Qualifications Advanced working knowledge of all aspects of the location, including current issues of concern for both the campus and / or throughout higher education / healthcare generally.
