The General Manager will work under the direction of the Chairman of the Demopolis Water Works and Sewer Board. He or she will oversee the day-to-day operations for the Water Works and Sewer Board and work with all departments to ensure compliance for the Water and Sewer System. The General Manager will need to interact with State (ADEM) and Federal (EPA) and local agencies to assist in compliance. The General Manager is expected to work with the Office Manager to review financials, prepare budgets, and stay within those budgets. Responsibilities include: Repair and maintenance on water mains and sewer lines. Decision-making in the field and working with the crew during heavy job loads. Ensuring efficient crew operations. Customer service as needed. Proper operation and maintenance of all mechanical equipment and treatment processes involved in the Water Distribution system and the Wastewater Treatment system. Supervision of the Water and Wastewater treatment plant operator. General maintenance of electrical motors, pumps, UV system, chlorine feed, SCADA, and other equipment used in the operation of a Water Distribution and Wastewater Treatment system, including Wells and Wastewater Pumping Stations. Education:
Bachelor's Degree - An Alabama Grade III or higher Wastewater Certification as well as Grade II Water Certification or able to take and pass the needed certifications within 6 months of hire date. Job Qualifications: Valid Alabama Driver's License, insurable under The Water Works and Sewer Board of Demopolis. Knowledge of electric motors and pumps is also desired. Willing to work nonstandard hours and more than 40 hours per week if needed. Must be available for call out. Successful applicant is required to take and pass pre-employment and drug test. Must reside within a 30-minute call-in range of the City of Demopolis. Compensation:
