ROLE SUMMARY Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) is a trillion-dollar investment management firm entrusted by investors around the globe to help them navigate changing market environments, so they can confidently realize their long-term objectives. The Investment Operations Business Manager role within the Northern Trust Asset Management COO organization is responsible for the oversight and coordination of Investment Operations affiliated vendor oversight, Benchmark, KPI and executive reporting, control and risk efforts, disaster recovery program, business process re-engineering, and change management support. Reporting directly to the Global Head of Investment Operations, core responsibility focuses on collaboration across Investment Operations, Digital Product, Data office, Technology and other teams to support the evolution and changes within the Investment Operations team. This role is instrumental in helping to drive NTAM’s future success. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Investment Operations Business Manager is primarily focused to support the business management within Global Investment Operations. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Governance and Oversight: Direct responsibility of Investment Operations affiliated vendor oversight. Facilitate group wide, KPI, Benchmark and executive reporting. Control & Risk Management: Key coordinator for Control and Risk related efforts. Drive change management, disaster recovery program, and business reengineering efforts. Operational Effectiveness and Strategy Stays abreast of the asset management industry changes to ensure NTAM is competitively positioned. Lead development of new capabilities and improved cross-functional connectivity to effectively position new product roll out. Help to drive the evolution of NTAM’s platform/infrastructure. Culture and Awareness Drive people management initiatives team including developing and executing the people strategy in support of the overall for the Global Investment Operations team. Advocate and promote awareness of the group and its initiatives to the wider NTAM organization. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Ability to partner effectively with peers, senior management and partners globally. Highly flexible and adaptable to change. Ability to operate in a deadline driven environment while still maintaining the ability to prioritize issues appropriately. Strong planning, organizational and problem solving skills with attention to details. Conceptual knowledge with Investment Management applications and systems such as Aladdin, Blackrock, Eagle and Archer preferred. Solid business analysis and project management skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Global outlook with sensitivity and awareness of social and cultural differences. Dynamic relationship building and partnership skills; a strong collaborator with experience leading initiatives across multiple groups and stakeholders. NECESSARY EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Bachelor degree or Master in Business Administration required. At least 10 years of work experience in the investment management industry, with a demonstrated track record of growth at a mid to large investment manager. Proficiency with investment as well as reporting and analytic tools and databases. Track record of developing and driving transformation vision and agenda.
