Job Overview:
Hiring Hub is seeking a skilled and dedicated Systems Administrator to join our IT team. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining our companys IT infrastructure, ensuring that all systems, networks, and servers run smoothly, securely, and efficiently. This role requires strong technical expertise, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities:
System Management:
Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, server hardware, and software applications, ensuring proper functionality.
Network Administration:
Manage and monitor local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and VPN services, ensuring reliable connectivity and performance.
Server & Storage Management: Oversee server environments (Windows/Linux/Unix), including virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), and ensure data backup systems are in place and tested regularly.
Security Management:
Implement and enforce security policies, conduct system vulnerability assessments, and ensure compliance with data protection regulations. Regularly update software, firmware, and security patches.
Troubleshooting & Support: Provide tier 2/3 support for server and network issues, diagnosing and resolving system outages, hardware failures, or network performance issues.
Monitoring & Reporting: Continuously monitor system performance using appropriate tools, and create regular performance and health reports.
Documentation:
Maintain thorough documentation for system configurations, procedures, network diagrams, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
Collaboration & Communication: Work with other IT team members, departments, and vendors to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Disaster Recovery & Backup: Ensure robust disaster recovery planning and execute periodic testing of backup systems to minimize data loss and downtime.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
At least 3 years of experience in system administration or a similar IT role.
Certifications:
Industry-recognized certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, VMware Certified Professional, or Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC) are preferred.
Technical Skills:
Strong experience with operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix) and server environments.
Proficiency in network administration, including routing, switching, and firewalls.
Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
Knowledge of security protocols and encryption technologies.
Experience with monitoring and management tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds).
Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell) is beneficial.
