Senior Estimator / Preconstruction Manager
to join our dynamic team in the Bay Area. Position Overview: The Senior Estimator / Preconstruction Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping the early stages of our projects, working closely with owners, architects, and design teams to ensure that budgets, schedules, and quality standards are met from the ground up. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in estimating and preconstruction management, with a strong background in large-scale commercial, residential, and mixed-use projects. In this role, you will lead the preconstruction efforts on major projects, including cost estimating, value engineering, scheduling, and project planning. You will collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors to develop accurate and competitive estimates, while identifying potential risks and opportunities to optimize project outcomes. Key Responsibilities:
Lead the preconstruction process for large, complex projects in the Bay Area, from conceptual design through construction. Develop comprehensive, accurate, and competitive cost estimates for all phases of the project. Conduct value engineering sessions to optimize project design and cost savings. Prepare detailed bid packages, review proposals, and select qualified subcontractors and suppliers. Work with project teams to assess risks, analyze schedules, and identify cost-effective strategies. Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other design professionals to ensure project feasibility and accuracy. Review and refine project scopes, budgets, and schedules to ensure alignment with client expectations. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior estimators and preconstruction staff. Prepare and present preconstruction budgets and schedules to clients, senior management, and stakeholders. Contribute to the development of project proposals, including pricing, scope, and risk management plans. Foster strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and industry partners to maintain competitive advantage.
Qualifications:
10 years of experience in construction estimating and preconstruction management, with a focus on large-scale commercial, residential, or mixed-use projects. Strong experience with MC2, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Paydirt, Constructware and іSqFt, and other estimating and project management software. Proven track record of delivering successful projects within budget, on time, and with exceptional quality. In-depth knowledge of construction costs, methods, and project lifecycle management. Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, design teams, and subcontractors. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred). Professional certifications such as CCM or LEED (preferred but not required). Experience in the
Bay Area
market and familiarity with local subcontractors, vendors, and construction codes is highly desirable. This position is on-site/in-office only, no remote options at this time.
