Jefferson Wells is partnering with one of our Racine, WI clients (just south of Milwaukee) to identify a Senior Technical Accounting Manager. Our client is offering a generous relocation package.
This is a hybrid opportunity requiring three days on-site in Racine, WI and two days remote.
Salary is negotiable and dependent on experience and qualification $125-$150+ K
The Senior Technical Accounting Manager will act as a crucial U.S. GAAP specialist, collaborating with internal stakeholder leadership across various functions. This role involves overseeing the evaluation and documentation of complex accounting areas and new transactions. Additionally, the Manager of Technical Accounting will work closely with the SOX team to ensure adherence to our client's SOX compliance program. The Manager may also support the preparation of external reports, including quarterly earnings releases and both quarterly and annual financial statements.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting research and preparing technical accounting memos to address and resolve accounting issues and manage new transactions appropriately.
- Keeping abreast of U.S. GAAP and SEC developments and spearheading the implementation of new accounting and disclosure standards.
- Ensuring adherence to financial accounting and reporting standards within the company.
- Offering technical accounting expertise in areas such as revenue recognition, leasing, intangible assets, inventory, restructuring, and employee benefits.
- Overseeing the reporting process for various North American benefit plans.
- Ensuring SOX compliance within the North American Accounting function.
- Partnering with the Accounting Policy group to create and uphold company-wide accounting policies that align with IFRS and U.S. GAAP requirements.
- Working with external auditors to resolve accounting and reporting issues, review accounting guidance, and provide technical memoranda.
- Delivering both formal and informal U.S. GAAP and accounting policy training to the North American Finance and other departments.
- Supporting the M&A team with transaction activities, including financial due diligence and integration assistance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- CPA license
- 5+ years professional experience including technical accounting from both public accounting and industry. Big 4 experience preferred.
- International manufacturing company experience preferred
- Extensive knowledge of the financial reporting process, U.S. GAAP technical accounting, SEC compliance, and financial systems.
- Proven strong interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency in writing technical memos.
- Experience and success working in a team environment, initiative to organize workload, set priorities, and the ability to adapt to changing situations
