Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work as required

Position Overview:

The Accounting Manager – Japanese Fluency is responsible for supervising, tracking, and evaluating daily accounting activities. This role will establish financial processes for information collection, analysis, verification, and reporting, working closely with the financial management team to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting and Finance Functions

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including month-end and year-end processes, accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll, treasury, budgeting, and cash forecasting.
  • Conduct variance analysis, asset and account reconciliations, and oversee debt activity.
  • Monitor accounting data, produce financial reports, and ensure proper accounting practices.
  • Coordinate and complete annual audits, improve systems, initiate corrective actions, and meet financial accounting objectives.
  • Handle quarterly closing and reporting processes for consolidation, and manage tax return and filing processes.
  • Oversee cash flow management, internal control system development, and governmental reporting.

Information Technology Functions

  • Facilitate IT planning and implementation by liaising between subsidiary and parent company IT teams.
  • Assist in developing IT control systems.

Legal and Compliance Functions

  • Assess business risks and manage relationships with external legal advisors.
  • Oversee maintenance of legal documentation.

Administrative Functions

  • Supervise and manage administrative tasks, adapting procedures to meet evolving needs.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Language Skills: Effective communication in English; ability to communicate verbally and in writing in Japanese is required.
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic algebra and geometry knowledge.
  • Reasoning and Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze documents (contracts, purchase orders, etc.) and follow detailed instructions.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, accounting software (QuickBooks, Peachtree, Access), and ability to design custom reports.
  • Other Skills: Tactful, flexible, and able to manage multiple work pressures effectively.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration.

Work Environment:

  • Professional office setting, routine use of standard office equipment. Moderate noise level.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, lift up to 10 pounds, and distinguish colors.

Position Type & Expected Hours:

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work required as needed.
